The picture shows Chen Qi's citrus orchard.

In November, the weather gradually turned cold, but Chen Qi's face was full of warm smiles, because he planted more than 50 acres of citrus will harvest.

As early as 2010, Chen Qi, who lives in Wangche Village, Hefeng Township, began planting citrus. At that time, most villagers in Hefeng Township still lived on traditional crops such as corn and rice. Villagers believe that the land grows food and talents do not starve. For Chen Qi's "adventure attempt," villagers said: "This person is simply nonsense."

"To get rich, we must seize opportunities and find some good ways." For the villagers do not understand, Chen Qi said so.

Before planting citrus, Chen Qi always liked to watch CCTV agricultural economic news and Guizhou tourism news, because that was his dream of becoming rich "treasure basin." "Agricultural economic news let me know about the prospects of planting industry and some planting technologies; Guizhou tourism news made me understand that the development of planting industry can also engage in tourism, which is called 'integration of agriculture and tourism' on TV." Chen Qi said.

In recent years, Hefeng Township has continuously increased investment in rural tourism infrastructure, and has successfully built rural tourism brands such as Matou Guzhai, Shuidiao Getou and Wangche Buyi Calligraphy Village, laying a good foundation for the masses to develop planting industry and promote the development of "integration of agriculture and tourism".

By comparing the advantages of the village with some news models, Chen finally decided to plant citrus in the village. In order to do a good job in citrus planting, Chen Qi also asked people to buy citrus planting management, grafting pruning, pest control and disease prevention books and CDs from Guiyang, and carry out research if anything happens.

Everything is difficult at the beginning. In those two years, the villagers 'land was used to grow grain, and the transfer of land from villagers became Chen Qi's first problem in developing citrus planting. Therefore, Chen Qi went door-to-door to do ideological work, and finally transferred 30 mu of land from villagers, plus his own more than 20 mu of land, a total of 50 mu. With the land available, Chen Qi began citrus planting.

These years, due to abundant rainfall and proper management, the fruit trees grow very well. Last year, oranges began to bear fruit. However, Chen Qi knows that if fruit trees are put into production ahead of schedule, the quality of citrus produced later will be greatly affected. So, last year's citrus was all artificially cut off.

This year, more than 50 acres of citrus trees officially put into production, into the fruit forest, fruit hanging full of branches, Chen naturally happy eyebrows.

"Citrus can be picked in December this year, and each citrus tree is expected to produce about 100 jin of fruit. According to the current average market price of 1 to 3 yuan per catty, the profit of 30,000 yuan can be obtained after removing the cost. In addition, as Hefeng Township's tourism industry continues to mature, there are now people calling to learn about fruit picking experience." Chen Qi said.

For future development, Chen Qi intends to expand the planting scale, and cooperate with farmers planting citrus in surrounding villages to establish professional cooperatives for collective development. At the same time, taking rural tourism as an opportunity, explore and hold citrus tasting festival to enhance product popularity, and make use of rural e-commerce platform to carry out online sales, so as to make citrus become "golden fruit" for villagers to become rich.
