Yang Junwei and his peacock

Yang Junwei, a 32-year-old boy in Yunyang District, worked as a teacher and e-commerce after graduating from university. now he has invested 100000 yuan to raise peacocks in his hometown of Meipu.

At Yang Junwei's farm, more than 400 peacocks sometimes open their screens and sometimes "goo", just like a "small zoo."

At first, I invested in raising peacocks to find something for my father.

On the morning of the 24th, when the reporter came to a small courtyard of Group 7 in Lijiagou, Meipu Town, Yunyang District, Yang Junwei was leaning over and sprinkling corn and wheat bran, one by one blue peacocks around him, fighting for food.

Why did you think of going home to raise peacocks? Yang Junwei, 32, said with a smile that he graduated from Xiangfan College (now Hubei University of Arts and Sciences) in 2008. After graduation, he worked as a teacher in a technical secondary school in Xiangyang city. In 2011, seeing the prospect of the e-commerce industry, he resigned and opened four online stores with his wife, mainly selling women's clothing.

"the online store can earn 200000 yuan a year." Yang Junwei said that his online store is booming.

Yang Junwei's father, Yang Guoqiang, who is in his late sixties, used to work away from home for many years, but in 2014, he was found to have a heart attack and had to return home. "but my father was so busy that he insisted that I find him something to do." In desperation, he planned to let his father engage in the aquaculture industry.

Before long, Yang Junwei learned that a friend around him was raising peacocks in other places. as soon as he inquired about the good prospects, he delved into it. Then he went to Hunan, Zhejiang and other places to investigate and study, and finally decided to let his father raise peacocks at home. "at first, it was just to find something for my father to do, and I didn't plan to make much money."

Seeing one peacock after another falling down, he resolutely returned to his hometown to start a business.

In the spring of 2014, Yang Junwei spent 100000 yuan of his savings to build more than a dozen huts in his hometown, surrounded by nylon nets, and then went to Hunan to buy peacock eggs and incubators.

"at that time, a peacock egg was 63 yuan, and I bought a total of 100." Yang Junwei said that due to lack of experience, only more than 20 young birds were hatched in the end. A few months went by, because my father was inexperienced, only two peacocks died.

Yang Junwei, who was far away in Xiangyang, was not reconciled to the failure of the investment. In June 2014, he went to Zhejiang again and bought more than 180 young birds at the price of 120 yuan each and sent them back to his hometown in Meipu town.

In order to ensure that breeding no longer failed, Yang Junwei opened an online shop in Xiangyang while studying. In addition to looking for relevant information on the Internet, he also went to Hunan, Zhejiang and other places to study many times and informed his father of the skills he had mastered.

In the autumn of 2015, his father's health was getting worse and worse, and he had no energy to raise the peacocks. 1/3 peacocks died one after another, which made Yang Junwei very sad. This must be done! As a result, Yang Junwei gave up the online shop in Xiangyang and returned to his hometown with his wife and children.

"now my wife lives in Yunyang while taking care of the children while taking care of the online store, while I devote myself to raising peacocks." Yang Junwei said.

A peacock sells for 700 yuan, and the first batch earns 30,000 yuan.

"raising peacocks requires skilled skills." Yang Junwei said that especially when young birds need to be heated 24 hours in the first three days, and then continue to reduce the heating time. At first, the technology was immature and the indoor temperature was too high, which led to some small peacocks fighting each other to death.

"peacocks mainly eat corn, wheat bran, soybean meal, bone meal, fish meal and other food." Yang Junwei said that a peacock needs more than 22 taels of food every day, which can usually be sold in a year or so.

After more than two years of breeding, Yang Junwei's first batch of peacocks grew up. In April this year, when restaurant owners in Shiyan City and Xiangyang found out, they came to buy them. Yang Junwei sold more than 40 peacocks at an average price of 700 yuan, earning 30,000 yuan.

In July this year, Yang Junwei bought another 400 peacock chicks from Hunan at a price of 100 yuan each. "now there are more than 460 peacocks in the farm." Yang Junwei said that at present, the daily feed costs about 100 yuan, and if it is sold one year later, it can earn 300000 yuan.

It is planned to set up a cooperative to drive the villagers to get rich together.

Yang Junwei told reporters that there are two kinds of peacocks: green peacocks and blue peacocks. Green peacock is a national first-class protected animal, with a certain degree of aggression, can not be killed. The blue peacock comes from India and was introduced to China in the 1990s. It is a rare bird breed with ornamental, edible and health care encouraged by the state. Blue peacock meat is a game treasure with high protein, low fat and low cholesterol, with high nutritional value and delicious meat. It is said that "old turtle in water, peacock in poultry".

According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, peacocks can detoxify all kinds of evil, and peacock meat and blood have the effect of detoxifying. Peacocks are covered with treasures, meat can be eaten, gallbladder can cure diseases, and feathers can be made into specimens. Yang Junwei said that in addition, peacock manure can also be used as organic fertilizer, which is very suitable for crop growth. At the same time, peacock eggs can be sold for 60 yuan each and can lay 40 eggs a year, with an income of more than 2000 yuan.

"in the near future, we plan to set up agricultural cooperatives and mobilize our neighbors to raise peacocks together, so as to drive everyone to get rich together." Yang Junwei has full confidence in the future.
