The yield of 200 mu high-starch sweet potato is nearly 1.2 million catties. "The rest of the sweet potatoes have to be made into dried starch. Some of them are ordered by others, and the rest are all made into vermicelli for sale this winter." Laowangzhai Village has a tradition of planting sweet potatoes. Wang Fan, who has been dealing with sweet potatoes for decades, is a famous local potato planting expert. Over the years, while inheriting the traditional experience of planting and processing sweet potatoes, he has constantly improved the planting method of sweet potatoes, and the income is gratifying. In 2015, at the 5th National Sweet Potato System "Agricultural University Fertilizer Cup" High-yield Competition held in Zhengzhou, Wang Fan won the first prize of the National Sweet Potato Competition with a good result of 8000 jin per mu, becoming a veritable "sweet potato king".

Income is guaranteed, Wang Fan's sweet potato planting scale has also gradually expanded, this year has increased to 200 mu. Moreover, with good quality, the sweet potatoes planted do not worry about selling at all: some time ago, his sweet potatoes plowed out of the field someone came to the field to pull, the lowest 0.6 yuan/catty.

The same season, the same is high yield, but Wang Fan this year is not willing to simply sell sweet potatoes. Last year, several local flour producers rushed to collect the starch he made. In recent years, he processed a small amount of vermicelli, which was also very popular. Therefore, he decided not to sell the sweet potatoes produced in the field directly, but to make most of the sweet potatoes into flour and vermicelli, develop scale processing, and convert them to local benefits.

"This year, we are going to make 120,000 catties of dry starch. In the early days, Henan customers ordered 70,000 catties, and the rest are ready to be made into fans." Wang Fan said that in the future, his main energy will be transferred to sweet potato milling and vermicelli production, this year he also expanded more than 1000 square meters of vermicelli production plant, added new milling equipment.

In addition to direct economic benefits, Wang Fan has also made great achievements in driving the local people to increase their income and become rich. This year, he took the initiative to connect with poor households in the village and helped 12 poor households to join the ranks of high-starch sweet potato planting by providing full-process technical guidance services. At present, satisfactory benefits have been achieved. Wang Wen, a local poor household, planted two mu of sweet potatoes. Only by selling fresh potatoes, the average income per mu was nearly 3000 yuan. The newly-built fan factory has not yet been officially produced on a large scale, and many fan orders have been received at present. Sitting down and calculating, Wang Fan felt that this year was another bumper harvest year.
