"if you don't have a production house, you build your own shed; if you lack of manpower, you go to war on your own. Seeing that migrant workers can earn 10,000 to 20,000 yuan a year from their own hands, I think that my pomelo will soon have a profit. I have no regrets at all. " Lai Qiang, 51, is a resident of Wenxing Township, Zitong. Recalling the hardships of starting a business, Lai Qiang is filled with emotion.

At the end of 2012, Lai Qiang contracted nearly 300 mu of mountains in several villages, introduced the fleshy Cizhu of Liangshan, and embarked on the road of entrepreneurship. Today, he earns more than 200,000 yuan a year by growing bamboo alone. At the same time, he also led more than 10 nearby farmers to develop bamboo planting and increase their income and become rich together.

Lai Qiang, who tasted the sweetness through the circulation of land, has strengthened his confidence in starting a business in rural areas. Last year, when he learned that the county had made great efforts to develop the pomelo industry, Lai Qiang hurriedly took action and contracted more than 500 mu of mountain to plant honey pomelo.

Industrial development is easier said than done. Leveling land, building ditches, building new roads, weeding and fertilizing. In addition, the planting area is large, and it is impossible to do without manpower and machinery. In this regard, Lai Qiang invested more than 300,000 yuan to buy all the large and small agricultural machinery. A few months later, the land was finally leveled and the latest variety, Sanhong Honey Pomelo, was planted.

Honey pomelo takes 3-5 years from planting to picking, during which there is not only no income, but also a lot of manpower and financial resources to weed, fertilize, prune and so on. As a result, Lai Qiang used the pomelo interrow space to grow vegetables. At the same time, he contacted kimchi manufacturers and signed a purchase contract to order vegetable production. Due to the good market situation, the sales of wax gourd, pumpkin, green vegetables, sea peppers and other vegetables are stable, and the income over the past year can basically make up for labor, chemical fertilizers, pesticides and other expenses. In addition, Lai Qiang also took advantage of the powerful terrain close to the hillside to develop the breeding industry. The 1000 running pheasants thrown into the column this year will soon be on the market.

In the process of starting a business, Lai Qiang has always been concerned about the migrant workers around him. Last year, more than 30 migrant workers worked on contracted land in Laiqiang for a long time, and the wages of migrant workers were about 300000 yuan a year. Aunt Jing, who is in her 50s, told the reporter: "when I was busiest last year, I worked 26 days a month and earned more than 1500 yuan." He usually has more than 1000 yuan when he is less, and he is still in charge of meals at noon, which are all 'practical information'. " She didn't expect that she could earn so much money on her doorstep when she was old. "it's much cheaper than growing her own crops."

Not only that, Lai Qiang did not forget the migrant workers around him when he developed the pomelo industry. He gave away five grapefruit seedlings free of charge to each migrant worker, leading them to jointly develop the pomelo industry.

Lai Qiang insisted on imparting the planting techniques he had learned to nearby farmers. At present, he has declared the establishment of the Bamboo Industry Association, ready to expand and strengthen the bamboo industry. He also decided to contract paddy fields with good water conditions but abandoned by farmers to plant lotus roots, and to plant purple potatoes on abandoned slopes. In order to solve the problem that it is difficult for the villagers to sell grain, he mobilized his family members to purchase the surplus grain of farmers and sent fertilizer and other production materials to the underworked households, thus solving the practical difficulties of the underemployed households. Under his inspiration, some local college students also sprouted the idea of going back to their hometown to start a business.

Talking about the future, Lai Qiang is full of confidence. He said that planting so many grapefruit trees requires a lot of fertilizer, and farm manure is most conducive to the growth and quality improvement of pomelo. Next, he will build a Zhengda pig breeding base, and then contract some hillsides to raise pheasants, ecological pigs, and ecological sheep to build a three-dimensional agriculture. "in a few years, more migrant workers will be needed here to make sure that all the villagers who are migrant workers can go home to work."
