Bi Jingquan, director of the Office of the Food Safety Commission of the State Council and director of the State Administration of Food and Drug Administration, said that China will improve the supporting laws and regulations on food safety.

Bi Jingquan made the above remarks at a symposium on the 30th to mark the first anniversary of the implementation of the new food safety law.

It is understood that on October 1 last year, the newly revised Food Safety Law was formally implemented.

Bi Jingquan said: the Food and Safety Office of the State Council will actively cooperate with the legal work Committee of the National people's Congress, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Legislative Affairs Office of the State Council, and other relevant units to step up efforts to revise the Law on the quality and Safety of Agricultural products and other supporting administrative regulations, rules, and standards.

According to reports, at present, there are still many hidden risks in food safety in China; the lack of standards can easily lead to systemic risks; the general environment of moral and law-abiding in the whole society has not yet been fully formed, and the legal awareness of individual food producers and operators is indifferent; a unified and authoritative food safety supervision system still needs to be improved.
