Heilongjiang pumpkins are very popular on Taiwan Island.
Li Changlong's pumpkin
Li Changlong, known as Mr. Pumpkin, lives in Renyi Village, Longquan Town, Baiquan County. he has grown and distributed pumpkins (known as "Japanese squash" in the north) for more than a decade, and his business has become more and more popular. This year, nearly 6000 tons of pumpkins have been exported through his hands, of which more than 1000 tons are also exported to Taiwan.
In the building of the Electronic Commerce Entrepreneurship Park in Dongmenwai County, Baiquan County, there are two plaques, "Mr. Gourd Black soil Ecological Studio" and "Baiquan County Longxing crop planting Professional Cooperative". The surrounding walls and glass cabinets are covered with pumpkin introductions and pumpkin samples. Li Changlong introduced the course of his development to the reporter "with pictures and texts".
Once upon a time, he "did not beat grain for farming, did not make money for raising cars, was worthless for raising pigs, and lost money for raising cattle."
Twenty years ago, the clever and capable Li Changlong was selected as a "village cadre" and successively became a village bookkeeper and cashier. After less than two years of mediocrity, he quit his job as a "cadre" and began to start his own business.
After several years of transportation, he changed to raising pigs because of more cars and less work. After not making money, he saw others raise cows and made a fortune. In 2001, he raised more than 100,000 yuan, borrowed 100000 yuan at the same time, and bought 10 cows. Unexpectedly, the price of dairy cows was at its peak at that time, but the price of milk began to go down gradually, and he did not know how to raise dairy cows.
In the face of a debt of more than 100,000 yuan, Li Changlong and his wife felt that the sky was about to collapse. speaking of this, his wife Zhang Ping told the reporter: "people all say that our family 'does not hit the land, does not earn money for raising cars, is worthless for raising pigs, and loses money for raising cattle'."
In the face of various failures, after analyzing the subjective and objective reasons, Li Changlong advised his wife Zhang Ping, "We have to hold on no matter how big the storm is, we are inexperienced, we are a little bold, and we have violated the big precepts of doing business. if you have the right to pay tuition fees, you can't do it again, and we'll find ways to do it again. I really don't believe in that evil!"
At first, Big Pumpkin + Rural Daily earned him the first bucket of gold.
Just at that time, Li Changlong saw a piece of news on TV that there was a county that had a bumper harvest in growing "seed pumpkins" and made a lot of money selling pumpkin seeds. Coincidentally, one of his classmates introduced him to an excellent variety, brought him more than 10 pumpkin seeds, and said that this variety can grow to more than 100 jin. Li Changlong thought, as the saying goes, the mother and son are fat, how many seeds do you have to bear for such a big melon? Li Changlong bought scientific and technological books on growing pumpkins and studied the breeding of seeds while planting them. Each of the melons grew to 40 to 50 jin.
In 2004 and 2005, he went to the Green Fair in Qiqihar twice to display his big pumpkins and promote pumpkin seeds. Li Changlong, who has been reading the "Rural Daily", thought of using the newspaper to expand his influence. He placed an advertisement in the newspaper to sell seeds, attracting many people who bought seeds. He has earned more than 100,000 yuan over the years.
With the first bucket of gold, Li Changlong strengthened his confidence in expanding the pumpkin business.
Later, the order planting made his pumpkin grow bigger and bigger.
Li Changlong is kind, honest and makes a lot of business friends. In 2008, a friend approached him and asked him to expand his pumpkin planting by signing an order.
After accounting, Li Changlong, who is familiar with pumpkin management, thinks that this "order" can be taken up. In that year, Li Changlong planted 200mu himself and signed 800mu with cooperative members and other growers, planting a total of 1000 mu of pumpkin. This year, all the pumpkins harvested were sold for 0.4 yuan per jin. Planting pumpkins makes growers earn a lot of money on fertile land. Since then, Li Changlong's pumpkin business has become bigger and bigger.
In order to ensure the income of growers and reduce their planting risk, Li Changlong signed purchase orders with growers every year at a price no less than 0.35 yuan per catty. If the market price is low, go according to this price, and if the market price is high, follow the market price.
This year, Li Changlong and growers signed a single area of 8000 mu, distributed to Yi'an, Keshan, Kedong, Heihe and other places, but also developed to Jilin, Inner Mongolia and other places outside the province.
By chance, Taiwanese businessmen fell in love at first sight, and little pumpkins drifted across the sea.
Last year, while waiting for a flight at Hailar Airport in Inner Mongolia, Li Changlong ran into a Taiwanese businessman. at that time, both of them heard what they had exchanged with their respective customers on the phone, and at the same time, they both became interested in each other. After the exchange, they immediately found the business opportunities they needed in each other, and the two hit it off and decided to take their own advantages and establish a cooperative relationship.
It turns out that this Taiwanese businessman distributes high-end fruits and vegetables rich in Taiwan in Sichuan, Yunnan and other places, while looking for agricultural and sideline products suitable for Taiwanese tastes in the mainland to be shipped to Taiwan. And pumpkin is one of the varieties he is looking for. After many negotiations, the two sides soon reached an agreement on exporting pumpkins to Taiwan. Later, the Taiwanese businessman and his mother came to Li Changlong's planting base for an inspection. during this period, his old father called from Taiwan to inquire about the inspection, and his mother excitedly replied, "the pumpkins here are so delicious. I've never eaten such a delicious pumpkin since I've grown up!"
Li Changlong told reporters: "Taiwanese are willing to eat pumpkins mainly because they are rich in nutrients and sweet and waxy taste, while the fertile black soil in northern China, especially in Northeast China, and the unique large temperature difference between day and night in summer, have the prerequisites for growing high-quality pumpkins. At the same time, I treat him honestly and become good friends with each other. This is also an important reason why Taiwan businessmen are willing to cooperate with me to export northern pumpkins to Taiwan. "
