Ran Longdi held a wounded lamb in his arms and was ready to drive the sheep up the mountain to feed them.

Ran Longdi fed medicine to a sick lamb.

Ran Longdi counted the income of several sheep he had just sold in the sheepfold.

Ran Longdi killed the New year pig to dry the pork, ready to make bacon.

On December 6, several consecutive days of winter sunshine made ran Longdi, a 62-year-old villager from Yanjia Village, Shangluo Town, Wuxi County, very happy: "the weather is fine, so the sheep in the enclosure can go up to the mountain to graze."

In 2012, ran Longdi built a simple sheep pen in his backyard and raised 10 sheep. At the end of last year, when the rural road was built in front of his house, seeing the increasingly convenient transportation, he expanded the scale of raising sheep to 100. Due to market fluctuations, the price of mutton this year is not satisfactory, but ran Longdi is not worried: "when the road is repaired, I will have the strength. I'm going to save the sheep until next year when the price picks up. I won't sell it as cheaply as before."

The country road was opened to traffic. He got out of poverty by selling sheep.

He was busy early in the morning, and before he could have breakfast, ran Longdi's business came to his door. This is a customer from Wuxi County. Ran Longdi pulled the sheep for him last year, and this year he drove to do it himself. After a while, ran Longdi sold two sheep at a price of 8 yuan per jin, with an income of 1200 yuan.

However, a few years back, it was not so easy for ran Longdi to sell a sheep. "in the past, the village was full of muddy roads, and the car couldn't get in at all. I need to walk for an hour or two to the restaurant and vegetable market in town to ask if I want sheep. If others want it, I will borrow a motorcycle to deliver the goods. " Ran Longdi said.

In November 2015, the Yan Da Road connecting Yanjia Village of Shangsulu Town and Daquan Village of Gulu Town was connected, which allowed ran Longdi to reap the first dividend of highway opening. "A month after the highway was opened to traffic, all 50 sheep from last year were sold out, and most of the guests drove to their homes to buy them. Selling sheep alone earned more than 40,000 yuan last year." Ran Longdi said.

It was with the income from selling sheep that ran Longdi and his family took off the label of poor families last year.

The road brings strength. He no longer sells sheep cheaply.

At the beginning of this year, ran Longdi built a bigger sheep pen at the back of the house and bought 100 lambs. Ran Longdi said that the village has lush forests and has the capital to raise sheep, and now that the road is open, as long as we make more efforts, we will certainly be able to live a good life.

However, there is still more than a month to celebrate the Spring Festival, ran Longdi's sheep have only been sold less than half, apart from the breeder sheep, there are still more than 40 unsold. "on the one hand, the market is not very good this year, and the price of mutton is on the low side, on the other hand, I really don't want to sell the sheep cheaply." Ran Longdi said that when the market was good last year, live sheep usually sold for 13 yuan per jin, but this year it was only 8 yuan per jin. "when the road was not repaired a few years ago, even if the price was low, as long as I didn't lose money, I had to find a way to sell the sheep before the Spring Festival. Now it's different. When the road is repaired, the sheep can't be sold, and I have the strength to wait for the price to pick up."

Ran Longdi calculated that the more than 30 sheep sold this year earned nearly 30,000 yuan, and the remaining 40 or so sold for 40,000 to 50,000 yuan when the price picked up, earning 70,000 to 80,000 yuan a year, which can double the income of last year.

The highway brings business opportunities. He has a dream of being a boss.

"they are all promoting the establishment of small and micro enterprises, and I want to set up a sheep factory." Now, ran Longdi has a new entrepreneurial dream.

Near noon, ran Longdi received a phone call from his son, who works as far away as Guangzhou. He told his son that now that the road in the village has been repaired, doing business at home is no worse than working outside, and he hopes that his son will not go out after the Spring Festival.

Ran Longdi said that he was going to discuss with his son when he came home to set up a micro-enterprise for raising sheep, and next year, the number of sheep would be expanded to 150. "now the village still has to organize us to learn about online sales. I heard that after placing an order online, it can be sent to other places in two days, so that the public can eat Wuxi mutton." Ran Longdi said.
