According to legend, in ancient times, when a pair of beautiful Phoenix was soaring in heaven, they heard the sound of grief from time to time, looked down and saw that locusts were plagued, plagues were prevalent, crops were not long, their eyes were desolate, and the people were sad. Seeing this, the kind-hearted and righteous Phoenix was determined to use its own strength to eliminate locusts, dispel the plague and help living creatures. Through efforts, a good wish came true, grateful people, asked the Phoenix to stay, bathe in the morning song and twilight song together.

Moved by the sincerity of the people, Phoenix built a Phoenix marsh dwelling on the top of a mountain-Kangshanling. Soon all the rocks around the Phoenix marsh became white and transparent, like white jade, hence the name Yuyan Mountain. Hundreds of birds sing in unison in Yuyan Mountain, and people under Yuyan Mountain live and work in peace and contentment. But at this time, a pair of overbearing birds and lions came to the mountain. They saw the Phoenix nest on such a beautiful mountain, created such brilliant achievements, and were envied by the people, so they were determined to drive the Phoenix away and occupy the Phoenix marsh.

One day, just as the female Phoenix entered the incubation period, when the male Phoenix was out looking for food, he secretly attacked the Phoenix nest and attacked the female Phoenix. The female Phoenix bravely fought with it, and the battle between the Phoenix and the lion made the wind jittery on the Yuyan Mountain and the sun and the moon lost light. When the male Phoenix returned to the nest, the female Phoenix was pecked off a leg by the bird lion and spilled blood on Yuyan Mountain. Finally, with grief and indignation, the Phoenix defeated the bird lion by its own wisdom and strength, buried the innocent Phoenix eggs in tears and flew away.

When the Phoenix left, the people deeply regretted that they prayed to heaven and asked the gods to bless the just Phoenix. The sincerity of the people and the crying blood of the Phoenix touched heaven and earth. The Jade Emperor sent the crown prince down to earth to inspect the facts, causing the Tibetan Bodhisattva to turn Phoenix blood and Phoenix eggs into beautiful red stones, and gave a piece of red stone to turn evil into good fortune, exorcise evil and promote good, punish evil and love.

Since then, after thousands of years of burial of Phoenix blood and eggs on Yuyan Mountain, they have become today's rare and precious-chicken blood stone, which should have been called Phoenix blood stone. This is when later generations found that its color was similar to that of newly slaughtered chicken blood dripping on the jade, so they were used to calling it "chicken blood stone".
