Recently, the national key research and development program "Modern Granary Green Grain Storage Project" was officially launched. The establishment and implementation of the project is of great significance to China's food security.

Grain is the basic necessity for human survival. Ensuring national food security is a major strategic issue related to the development of our national economy and social stability. At the end of 2013, the CPC Central Committee put forward a new national food security strategy of "giving priority to ourselves, having a foothold at home, ensuring production capacity, moderate imports, and supporting by science and technology", and clearly put forward the new goal of "basic self-sufficiency in grain and absolute safety of food rations". The next few years will be a critical period for our country to build a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, as well as a crucial period for comprehensively deepening reform and speeding up the transformation of the mode of economic development. The realization of the grand goal of "building a well-off society in an all-round way" requires us not only to provide the people with adequate and stable food supply, but also to pay more attention to the quality and nutrition of grain; the increasingly severe situation of resources and environment forces us to further improve the environmental performance and efficiency of grain warehousing and logistics technology. The acceleration of urbanization and population aging, as well as the structural shortage of labor force, require us to further improve the level of mechanization, automation and intelligence.

On the basis of comprehensively combing and restricting the technical bottleneck of "green storage, quality maintenance and loss reduction, energy saving and consumption reduction" of grain storage enterprises, and through application research, the "Modern Grain Storage Green Grain Storage Project" comprehensively breaks through the key materials, technologies, processes and equipment in each link of grain depot production, and cooperates with the implementation of the National Grain Safety Project Construction Plan and the new grain depot with a capacity of 100 billion jin. Typical demonstration of the results of this project. More than 50 demonstration warehouses have been built in different grain storage ecological areas to be popularized step by step, so as to achieve the goals of green, quality assurance, energy saving and loss reduction in modern granaries.

The implementation of the project can provide effective technical support for "ensuring the safety of rations". The project develops grain storage and quality assurance technology, which can delay the change of grain quality. Through R & D and demonstration of non-chemical control of stored grain pests, the project can provide safe grain, fresh-keeping grain and high-quality grain for "healthy China", and effectively ensure the safety of food rations.

The implementation of the project can reduce the pressure on resources and environment in our country. At present, China's grain production is restricted by land and water resources, and the increase of total yield and per unit yield has encountered bottlenecks. This project reduces the loss of grain during storage through the development of grain storage reduction technology, which is equivalent to the development of invisible fertile land.

The project can effectively improve the production efficiency of the grain storage industry and reduce the labor intensity. The grain industry is a traditional industry, a large number of work needs manual or manual operation of machinery to complete, time-consuming and laborious, the working environment is dusty. The new grain cleaning, in and out warehouse, special refrigeration, circulation temperature equalization equipment and automatic control system developed by this project can effectively improve the mechanization and automation level of grain storage industry and effectively reduce labor intensity.

The smooth implementation of the project will effectively promote the great-leap-forward development of China's grain storage industry and provide effective technical support for China's food security.
