A new variety of insect-resistant cotton with high yield was cultivated in Anhui Province.
The Cotton Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences recently developed a new cotton variety (Zhongmiansuo 53) in Hefei that can increase production by 20%. It can produce more than 50 peaches per plant and yield 751 jin of seed cotton per mu, twice as much as ordinary cotton, and has stronger insect resistance.
At present, China Cotton Institute 53 has been listed as a subsidized variety of cotton in Anhui Province in 2007. At the same time, Zhongmiansuo 53 is also a bivalent transgenic insect-resistant cotton.
