Recently, Yu Liangen, a villager from Lixin Village, Zhuqiao Town, Pudong, Shanghai, invented a small hand-held oil-electric hybrid green leafy vegetable harvester, which was reported by the CCTV "I Love Invention" program. It is understood that this machine can "pick vegetables", obtained the national utility model patent, and greatly liberated the productivity of vegetable farmers.

Make agricultural inventions, feel the stones and cross the river

Many years ago, Yu Liangen made some money in business. In order to make this "vegetable picker", it took him three years and nearly 2 million yuan. He doesn't want to make money out of it. He just wants to realize his dream of "liberating vegetable farmers."

In the factory building of 1800 square meters, all kinds of lathes, gantry welders and other equipment stayed there quietly. The silence was broken by the sound of conversation. Yu Liangen's "invention team" discussed how to improve their green leafy harvester. They have gathered here almost every Saturday for more than three years. There are not many people in the whole invention team, only five people.

In addition to Yu Liangen, the "main force" also includes Zhou Zongliang, a senior engineer at the Shanghai Agricultural Machinery Research Institute, and Gui Kunlong, an old master of machinery.

"there are no small green vegetable harvesters in Shanghai or even the whole country, and we want to change that." It was such an idea that these people came together.

In the process of invention, the problems were solved one by one, and by early 2014, the trio had decided on the overall plan.

Oil-electric hybrid has experienced hundreds of "accidents"

There is a plan, but it is not easy to translate it into practical results. Sighs and arguments are often heard in the empty factory building, which is a "wrap-up meeting" between the three after each failure of the experiment.

I don't know how many times the three people argued about the mixing of oil and electricity. After hundreds of "accidents" such as too high voltage, too much current and burnt out of the motor, the trio finally found the most suitable choice-new energy vehicle batteries.

"the hybrid of oil and electricity is one of the bright spots of our harvester." Yu Liangen said. The national patent application for utility model was submitted on May 8, 2015, and the authorization came down on September 2. When the harvester was first tested in the farmland on the outskirts of Pudong, the harvester was very "competitive" and worked well. Everyone sees it in their eyes and is happy in their hearts.

Not afraid of troubles, for the benefit of vegetable farmers who are old and have no regrets

Now, the team has built five more identical harvesters, ready to be tested on several farms, "to find out and solve all the problems and problems that may be encountered."

In the eyes of many people, Yu Liangen's invention is "twists and turns". As a rural entrepreneur, he lives in a four-story "mansion" and has no worries about food and drink. If he hadn't invented a harvester, Lao Yu would have lived a leisurely life.

Yes, it is. In the past few years of studying the harvester, Yu Liangen has invested a lot of time and money. But he didn't regret it. "if you have a harvester, it will be much easier for farmers to grow vegetables." Yu Liangen said.

He calculated that it would take 20 people a day to harvest an acre of Malan head. If you use a harvester, you only need three people to operate it, and you can do the same amount of work in two hours. "Malan head, chicken feather, artemisia, and so on, can all be harvested with our harvester." Their ultimate goal is to see the harvester mass-produced and put into use. "it is old and has no regrets that it can benefit more vegetable farmers." Zhang Lei and Wang Haiyan
