On August 24, the reporter learned from the Gansu Aerospace breeding Engineering and Technology Research Center that the space golden bell melon bred by the center is currently growing well and has reached the breeding standard.

It is understood that the Gansu Aerospace breeding Engineering and Technology Research Center was established in 2001 and specializes in the breeding, seed production, promotion and industrialization development of new aerospace crop varieties. It is a subsidiary enterprise of the Chinese Academy of Space Technology. China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Aerospace breeding Innovation Base, key leading enterprises of agricultural industrialization in Gansu Province. According to Bao Wensheng, general manager of the center, space golden bell melon is cultivated by integrated innovation of space flight, space mutagenesis, biotechnology, and agricultural breeding technology. it belongs to the first generation hybrid of ornamental pumpkin. Trailing type, strong plant growth, good continuous fruit setting, single fruit weight 0.5-0.8 kg, melon surface with prismatic protuberance, suitable for cold salad, stir-frying, excellent taste, great ornamental value.
