The Y Liangyou 957 mentioned by Jiang Rongbing is a new super high-yielding rice combination bred by Deng Qiyun's team in 2014. According to Deng Qiyun, the Y Liangyou 957 combination is a new type of wide-adapted, high-quality and super-high-yielding medium hybrid rice combination bred on the basis of the fourth stage super rice research by reforming the lodging resistance mechanism and improving disease resistance and stress resistance. it, together with Y Liangyou 900 and Chaoyou 1000, have become the "main star team" of the fifth stage super rice.

From the successful cultivation and continuous trial planting, Deng Qiyun devoted painstaking efforts and sweat to Y Liangyou 957, and different stages experienced different hardships. Among them, what makes him most unforgettable is the stage from trial planting to yield measurement this year.

Although YLiangyou 957 was tested in different areas in the past, it was tested on a small scale. After YLiangyou 957 participated in the production experiment in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, a large-scale trial was launched in Niuxiangzui Village, Yangguao Township, Longhui County this year.

After planting medium rice, Deng Qiyun was always "in Changsha, but his heart was in Longhui", thinking about the growth performance of YLiangyou 957.

The good news kept coming. Xiao limin, director of the Yangguao Township Agricultural Comprehensive Service Station, kept calling and tweeting on Wechat to tell Deng Qiyun: under the conditions of very complex climatic conditions and ordinary planted fields this year, Y Liangyou 957 also performed very well. The early tillering ability was very strong, the panicle setting rate was high, the seed setting rate was more than 97%, and it was resistant to insects, diseases and lodging. Zhang Yuchen, deputy director of Hunan Hybrid Rice Research Center, made a special trip to inspect the cultivation and growth of Y Liangyou 957. He came back and excitedly said to Deng Qiyun: "Y Liangyou 957 is now growing steadily, heading neatly, with high seed setting rate, and is expected to be super high-yielding."

Although the good news spread frequently, Deng Qiyun was still worried and always wanted to invite his teacher Yuan Longping to go to the demonstration base of Niu Xingzui Village in person to "feel the pulse" for Y Liangyou 957. On September 6, when the middle rice site meeting of the super hybrid rice "planting three crops and four" high-yield project was held in Longhui, Deng Qiyun invited Yuan Longping to Niuxiangzui Village. In the demonstration base, Academician Yuan Longping went into the field and leaned over to check the hanging grains of rice ears. Yuan Longping said happily: "Y Liangyou 957 grows very well, and it should be no problem for the estimated yield to exceed 1,000 kilograms per mu this year."

After listening to Academician Yuan's evaluation at the scene, the reporter turned to Deng Qiyun for an interview at that time. "Mr. Deng took the students along and went to every hill to count the ears of rice." At the edge of a rice field planting two Y you 957 on a hill, the reporter finally found Deng Qiyun. He picked up the rice ear and said to the reporter happily: "on the one hand, the rice ear is very good: on the one hand, the rice ear is yellow, and the rice field is golden." the color is very good. On the other hand, the yield should be higher. After careful counting and calculation, we found that there are more than 200,000 rice ears per mu, which is 50,000 more than the star variety Y Liangyou 900 on average, and each rice ear has more than 280 grains, more than 50 grains more than the same period last year. "

On September 9, the good news came again. The Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province organized experts to measure the yield of 113.2 mu of "Y Liangyou 957" demonstration field in Niuxingzui Village, and the measured average yield per mu reached 1000.5 kg, setting a national record for high yield of this variety.

The yield measurement expert said: "the combination of large panicle, multi-panicle and high lodging resistance is concentrated on Y Liangyou 957. Such a new combination is rare and is a new success in super rice breeding."

Y Liangyou 957 has indeed made a new breakthrough. Among the seven breakthroughs made in the research on super high yield of super hybrid rice released by Hunan provincial government on November 24, Y Liangyou 957 was listed as the first breakthrough. Deng Qiyun's team, which undertook the 100 mu film of "Y Liangyou 957", won the Ninth Yuan Longping Agricultural Science and Technology Award.
