Xinhua News Agency, Shijiazhuang, 24 Nov (reporters Fan Shihui and Zhao Hongyu) from more than a dozen villagers to go out to "beg for food" and live in half-price buildings free of charge for water, electricity and gas, villagers in Qiannanyu Village, Xingtai County, Hebei Province have achieved "three consecutive jumps" in their lives in the past 50 years. Great changes were made only because there was a leader in poverty alleviation in the village.

In the sixties and seventies of the last century, folk songs described Qiannanyu as "Guangshan bald Ridge monks, floodwaters flowed all over the mountains and washed away the beaches along the river, resulting in no harvest in ten years and nine disasters."

"We must ask the barren mountains for grain and fruit." Guo Chengzhi said. Since 1967, from deputy branch secretary and militia company commander to village party committee secretary, Guo Chengzhi has led the masses for decades of mountain management and afforestation.

In the hardest first 10 years, the whole village, regardless of male or female, went to the field at 5 o'clock in the morning and went home at 10:00 in the evening. Guo Chengzhi was both in command and practiced. The wind and rain on a summer night made him shiver all over the body with a high fever of 39.2 degrees Celsius. He drank a bowl of ginger soup and insisted on his work. In winter, the north wind was piercing and the frozen gneiss was as hard as an iron plate. As soon as he was hammered down, the tiger's mouth cracked, and he wrapped up adhesive tape and refused to stop. "only by doing a little more than the masses can you become a cadre." Guo Chengzhi said.

For more than ten years, the people of Qiannanyu built more than 400 mu of river beaches and terraces, and 8300 mu of forest farms were dressed in green, and they no longer worry about eating.

"if you don't have a job, you won't be rich, and if you don't run an enterprise, it's hard to have food and clothing." Guo Chengzhi said that since 1983, they have used local barite resources to build a barium sulfate plant, which made a profit that year, and then set up more than a dozen enterprises one after another.

In order to run the industrial silicon project, Guo Chengzhi brought his own dry food and money, left home for three months, went south and went north, spent several sleepless nights in hotels, cars, and waiting rooms, lost 18 jin of weight, and was once seriously ill and admitted to the hospital.

In order to get a loan, he went to and from work with the president for seven days, and even found a way to eat and live in the president's house. The loan needed to be guaranteed, and he pushed his flat bike in the middle of the rainy night looking for a guarantor.

At the end of 1990s, the total output value of 12 enterprises in Qiannanyu Village was nearly 100 million yuan.

In 2003, Guo Chengzhi was lost in thought by the pollution caused by three profitable enterprises. He repeatedly did villagers' work, took the initiative to shut down the enterprise, and instead prepared to build pollution-free chestnut processing plants, honey processing plants and other projects to achieve "black to green" transformation.

At the same time, they introduced 36000 famous trees at home and abroad, made use of the advantages of agricultural ecology and the former site of Kangda to engage in eco-tourism, and received more than 600,000 tourists last year, with a per capita net income of 11800 yuan.

"our family lives in a 186-square-meter two-story building built with half the money from the village. no matter it is to buy high-end electrical appliances or install solar energy and broadband, the village has to make up half of the money, and daily water and electricity are all free of charge." Villager Wang Xiaotang is proud to be from Qiannanyu.

Today, Guo Chengzhi, who is in his twenties, continues to exert his residual heat in the village. "my greatest hope is that the Qiannanyu 5A scenic spot will be completed as soon as possible. At that time, it is estimated that the annual per capita net income will be over 30,000 yuan." Guo Chengzhi could not hide his joy.
