Standing in his mango field and watching boxes of golden mangoes being loaded onto trucks, Wang Daoxiang finally smiled.

Wang Daoxiang, 66, was born in Linjiang Village, Shilongba Town, Huaping County, Yunnan Province. His family planted four mango varieties with a planting area of more than 300 mu. Last year, the county suffered a heavy rain, the county many cars were flooded or washed away, Wang Daoxiang's car worth more than 400,000 yuan failed to escape the "bad luck", but also washed away by the flood.

"My heart hurts!" Recalling the car being washed away, Wang Daoxiang was still a little unhappy. However, when he looked at the mango sales recorded in his notebook this year, the stone in his heart fell. There are still more than 100,000 catties of mango not yet picked, sales are expected to exceed 800,000 yuan. "Cars are big commodities. A few years ago, only corn was planted, so it was difficult to afford them."

According to introduction, Huaping County began to advocate farmers planting mango in 1995, but by 2005 mango planting area was only 40,000 mu. "Mango planting promotion process is really not easy." Huaping County Agriculture Bureau Director Wang Guohua said.

"The surrounding people have never planted mangoes. They only know that the mangoes in the county are 'three-year-old'." Wang said that corn income is not good, but no one dares to easily replace corn with mango. In addition to seedlings and planting techniques, the masses are more concerned about how the mango will be sold to whom after planting.

Around 2000, Huaping County once advocated planting Japanese radish. Although it had a bumper harvest, it sold poorly. According to the plan, radish can be sold for 1 yuan to 2 yuan per catty, but in the end only two or three cents per catty. "I didn't plant it at the time. After this incident, I became more cautious about what I planted." Wang said, the village road is dirt road, access is poor, to a trip to the county is not easy, mango how to transport out?

After understanding the real ideas of the masses, the agricultural department decided to introduce high-quality fruit seedlings first, strengthen cooperation with domestic scientific research institutes, improve the technical level of mango pest control, and visit and investigate the mango sales market in other places. Finally, it was decided to guide some farmers to carry out trial planting.

"After seeing the first batch of growers have income, everyone decided to plant." Wang said he was not one of the first growers, but he has been paying attention to it. Knowing the news that the first batch of mangoes were on sale, he rushed to the county town and decided to plant mangoes after seeing the selling price in person.

In addition, the local government integrates agriculture-related funds and speeds up infrastructure construction such as rural roads. At present, the roads along the river in Linjiang Village have basically hardened, and the traffic accessibility has been greatly improved, which greatly facilitates the transportation and export of mangoes.

"The villagers planted less than 30 mu of mangoes, and 70% bought cars." Linjiang village seven group leader Leng Tianwei said. In the past, most people in the village planted corn, corn was more used as feed, many villagers went out to work, life is not rich. At present, mango planting, villagers 'annual income is less than 890,000 yuan, more than one million yuan.

In view of the low ability of mango to resist natural disasters, frost, hail and other natural disasters are easy to cause losses to the development of mango industry, Huaping County has launched mango insurance since last year, with an insurance premium of 50 yuan per mu per year. Among them, the government subsidizes 10 yuan and farmers pay 40 yuan in premium.

"Mango insurance maximum compensation amount per mu is 2500 yuan." Zhou Guixiang, head of the mango industry development leading group in Huaping County, said that mango trees aged 4 years or more can participate in insurance. Mango trees or mangoes can be included in compensation if they suffer from natural disasters such as rainstorm, flood, debris flow, wind disaster, hail disaster, frost and drought.

Up to now, Huaping County has established 6 high-quality late-maturing mango demonstration bases, 22 100 mu science and technology demonstration parks and 4 mango science and technology demonstration villages along the suitable planting area of Lipan Highway. With the continuous expansion of mango planting area, mango processing plants have been established locally to carry out mango deep processing. Now, local dried mango, mango vinegar and other products have been introduced to the market.

In addition, in order to ensure mango quality, Huaping began to promote pollution-free, green, organic mango planting technology. At present, 10,000 mu of mango has obtained green food certification, 78,000 mu of mango has obtained pollution-free food certification, and 22,900 mu of high-quality late-maturing mango has obtained national organic product conversion certificate.

"There are still many farmers like Wang Daoxiang who rely on planting mangoes to become rich." Zhou Guixiang said, By this year the county mango planting area nearly 200,000 mu, Mango growers more than 10,000 households, This year's output value is expected to reach 750 million yuan.

"Buy it! When the mangoes are sold out, I'll buy them!" Faced with Leng Tianwei's question of whether to buy a car or not, Wang Daoxiang smiled and answered. Reporter Yang Jing of Xinhua Agency
