In Qinjiaying Village, a commercial town in Cheng'an County, people can often see a thin, Hale and hearty old man walking into the alley to deliver newspapers and letters to everyone. He is Qin Haibao, a 67-year-old veteran party member.

No pay, just for service.

Qinjiaying Village, with a population of about 4500, is a large administrative village in the west of Cheng'an County. Before 1982, the village newspaper and mail were delivered by couriers to the secretary of the village party branch, and then distributed by the village. However, there are many major events in the village, and the secretary of the village party branch often takes care of one thing at the expense of the other. With the support of the county post office, the village was going to set up a letter and newspaper station, but it took only a few days for two peasant families to submit their resignation. The village committee set its sights on Qin Haibao's home, which is conveniently located along the provincial highway at the head of the village.

One day in the spring of 1982, the secretary of the village party branch and the accountant came to Qin Haibao's house to ask for advice. The village branch secretary told each other frankly: "because of the economic difficulties in the village, there is no subsidy for the newspaper station." Lao Qin readily promised: "I am a party member, for no reward, just to support the work of the village and serve everyone." In this way, Qin Haibao began to walk into the alley to deliver newspapers and periodicals to the villagers.

The delivery work is meticulous

In the summer of 1990, the village letter station received a plain letter signed "Qin Haijun". After the broadcast, he was led by a young man, but after he opened it, he found that the letter was not his own and returned it to the newspaper station. After several days of visits and consulting relevant records, Qin Haibao found that there was a young man in this village who was also called Qin Haibao, who worked in a foreign township. After several twists and turns, Qin Haibao finally found the real owner of the letter.

Every July and August, it is the time for the centralized delivery of admission notices for colleges and secondary schools. Qin Haibao is particularly careful about this. In addition to broadcasting and receiving it, he also takes the initiative to make door-to-door applications. One year, the Hong Kong Economic Journal Station received an admission notice named "Zhang Haiying", which was broadcast many times unclaimed. Qin Haibao used his lunch break and after dinner to knock on the villagers' home and finally found out that it was the daughter of a perennial migrant worker. When he handed the notice to Zhang Haiying, Zhang Haiying said, "Thank you so much. I've been going to school to ask. I didn't expect to send it to the village. It's really hard for you!"

After the villagers replaced their second-generation identity cards, the post office sent thousands of identity cards. Lao Qin broadcast and asked the village cadres for assistance, all of which were safely distributed to the villagers.

Be willing to bear to be praised

The work of the letter and newspaper station is specific and complicated, the time of the postman to the village is not fixed every day, and there must always be someone on duty at home. When spring ploughing, summer harvest and autumn are busy, in order not to embarrass the couriers, Qin Haibao often works in the fields only after receiving mail.

In recent years, villagers attach importance to scientific and technological information, the number of subscribers to newspapers and periodicals has increased, coupled with the increasing number of online shoppers and the need to sign for more business, Qin Haibao always warmly welcomes people who come to their homes to pick up parts or read newspapers and periodicals.

Over the past few decades, the village letter newspaper station has cumulatively received hundreds of thousands of newspapers and periodicals, telegrams, registered letters, parcel orders, remittance orders and ordinary letters, and there have never been any transmission errors. Qin Haibao's hard work has gained the trust and praise of the villagers.

Now that Qin Haibao is in his twilight years, some villagers advised him: "it's time to enjoy happiness!" But he said: "as long as the village committee supports and the villagers trust, I am willing to continue to serve you!"
