Cui Gangyi is from Beizhang Village, Xincheng Town, Shahe City. After graduating from Hebei University in 2007, he went to work in Xifeng Village, a new town in Shahe City. In the summer of 2013, by chance, Cui Gangyi "got to know" the craft gourd and was determined to go to the producing area to find out. He lived in the gourd planting base in Shandong for a month.

When he returned to his hometown, Cui Gangyi got everyone's support, and the village provided him with more than ten mu of experimental fields. The gourd is relatively fragile, water and fertilizer conditions, pest control, artificial pollination and so on, which link there is a little mistake, months of hard work will also be in vain. " Cui Gangyi said that over the past few years, he got up and went to the ground and went to the ground in the dark, except to sleep in the field.

In the winter of 2013, Cui Gangyi's gourd was harvested. But another difficult problem lies in front of him: the traditional manual work is inefficient and the machine production is not distinctive.

After market research, Cui Gangyi decided to make painted gourds with cultural connotations, combined with local characteristics and capable of mass production. He purchased professional equipment and devoted himself to the inkjet painting technology of related industries. After numerous experiments, Cui Gangyi finally mastered the gourd painting technique and can paint any pattern on the gourd.

"Shahe has colorful gourds." The message spread like wildfire. Gradually, thick orders filled Cui Gangyi's desk: "Twelve Women of Jinling" customized by Zhengding Rongguofu, "Ten scenery of Yan Zhao" by Hebei Museum, "Ten Marshals" customized by Tiananmen Square Arts and Crafts Store.
