A New strain of High quality Japonica Rice was bred in Yixing, Jiangsu Province
Recently, the author learned from Bokun Agricultural Research Institute of Yixing City, Jiangsu Province that a breakthrough has been made in the work of "breeding new varieties of japonica rice with multi-resistance, high yield and high quality" carried out by the Institute in cooperation with the National Rice Improvement Center of China Rice Research Institute. A batch of new varieties of japonica rice with high yield and high quality resistant to brown planthopper and rice blast have been successfully bred, such as 4701 and 4714.
It is reported that the high-yield and high-quality japonica rice new lines have gathered genes resistant to brown planthopper, white-backed planthopper, rice blast, stripe blight, as well as high-yield and high-quality specific genes. The results showed that these new japonica rice lines had obvious resistance to brown planthopper and rice blast.
