As the New year is approaching, killing New year pigs, eating shaved pig soup, bacon, sausage and so on have once again become hot topics. Different from previous years, although farmers are fully prepared for supply, but affected by the tight supply in the previous period, pig prices have recently entered the upstream channel again, with prices rising 7.92% year on year.

Peak season mode is on

With only more than a month to go before the 2017 Spring Festival, the annual Pig Culture Festival begins again in the suburbs of Nanchuan, Banan, Yubei, Bishan and Jiulongpo. A series of folk activities such as killing New year pigs, eating shaved pig soup, bacon, and filling sausages are in full swing.

However, this year's prices are not as close to the people as in previous years. "one bite price, black pig 18 yuan / jin, white pig 13 yuan / jin, processing fee 200 yuan, shaved pig soup 380 yuan per table (15 dishes, with side dishes)." Yubei Yufengshan Nongjiale boss said that all the pigs selected by his family are grain pigs purchased from farmers, and this year's processing fees and annual pig feast prices are basically the same as in previous years, and pig prices have increased by 1 kilogram and 2 yuan per jin. On the other hand, the prices of pigs killed by farms in Nanchuan Daguan, Pobai City, Kowloon, Banan Sheng Dengshan and other places are also about the same, with a rise of one or two yuan per jin in the price of hairy pigs.

"when citizens go to farm houses to kill New year pigs, it is only piecemeal consumption. Our company buys smoked bacon in bulk, and the price is higher than that of last year. " Zhao Xiaochun, chairman of the city's leading enterprise Chengkou County Zhao Xiaochun Wild Food Development Co., Ltd., said that the company is now producing cured meat on a large scale. The purchase of live pigs is thousands of tons, and the price is about 10 yuan per jin. The year before last, the price was only eight or nine yuan per jin.

The latest monitoring data from the Agricultural Information Center of the Municipal Committee of Agriculture also show that in the 47th week, the average purchase price of Chongqing woolly pigs was 9.42 yuan / jin, up 1.63% from the previous week, showing a steady and slight increase, up 7.92% from the same period last year, much higher than the national average price of 10.63%. However, the average retail prices of pork belly, steak, sandwiched meat and lean meat are roughly the same week-on-week.

Pig prices go up again.

"Winter is originally the peak season for pork consumption, and this round of pig prices have risen slightly, with seasonal factors accounting for a relatively heavy share." The relevant experts of the Municipal Committee of Agriculture analyzed that since the beginning of this year, pork prices have shown an upward trend. by May and June, pig prices broke through the "10 yuan mark", the market leverage fell to the supply side, and the pig-to-grain ratio was once as high as 8:1. Farmers increased production under the stimulation of high profits, and then the relationship between supply and demand was alleviated, and pig prices also showed a rational return, but from the breeding of breeding sows to giving birth and fattening. After all, it takes a certain period of time.

At present, the northern region has entered the ice and snow season, and citizens' demand for pork has increased, while the output of farmers has declined due to the severe cold weather; at the end of the year, there are customs such as killing pigs, bacon, and filling sausages in the southern region, and the demand for pork will also increase, while the early market supply is tight, thus pushing up the price of live pigs this round.

Market participants predict that the New year's Day and Spring Festival in 2017 will be in January, driven by the festive effect, the market demand may have a relatively obvious growth, while the supply side will continue to be tight, and pig prices are likely to remain high and volatile in the future.
