"it was windy last night, so don't freeze the young pigs." On the afternoon of January 31, Feng Shengmin and his wife were busy putting up a tarp for a pig pen at the Shengmin Black Pig farming Cooperative in Dali Village, Fuwen Town, Ding'an County. After some busyness, the pig had a wind barrier and hummed merrily. Looking at the energetic appearance of the pig, Feng Shengmin finally breathed a sigh of relief, stretched his brow and smiled.

Feng Shengmin treats these pig seedlings like babies, because there are not only the pig seedlings of his family, but also those of 25 other poor families in the village. In order to take good care of them, Feng Shengmin added a bed in the warehouse of the cooperative and has stayed ever since. He goes to the pigsty several times a day, takes good care of it, feeds and sweeps the pigsty, and can't be idle for a moment.

Although it is hard to take care of piglets, Feng Shengmin enjoys it. "Last year, by raising black pigs, I earned 50,000 to 60,000 yuan and took off the 'poverty cap'. The villagers trust me and buy shares in my co-operative with pig seedlings. How can I not work harder? "

In the past, Feng Shengmin was also a poor household. Although he has mastered the skill of raising pigs, he has been living in poverty due to the lack of development funds. In 2016, the village carried out accurate poverty alleviation work, through the distribution of pig fry, sheep fry, to support poor households to develop characteristic breeding industry. Feng Shengmin happily applied for several young pigs from the village and began to concentrate on the development of the industry.

After the pig seedlings are sent, Feng Shengmin takes good care of them every day, and the scale of breeding continues to expand. As there are more and more piglets, Feng Shengmin's pigsty is gradually not enough. More than a dozen pigs are crammed into a pigsty of more than ten square meters, and there is not even enough space for activities.

Just when Feng Shengmin was anxious to expand the breeding site, many poor families in the village either raised the poverty alleviation pig seedlings to death or sold them for money due to the lack of breeding skills, making the poverty alleviation cadres very helpless. At the same time, some villagers reported that the scattered raising of young pigs in the village pollutes the environment and smells bad.

"I have both skill and drive. Why not organize everyone to raise pigs together?" After learning about this situation, Feng Shengmin had the idea of gathering poor families together to raise pigs. Subsequently, he took the initiative to put forward the idea of setting up a cooperative to the village committee and the first secretary of the party branch in the village at that time.

Feng Shengmin's idea quickly got a response. Not only did the poor families in the village agree with each other, the Provincial people's and Social Affairs Department of the Bao Dian Poverty Alleviation Unit in Dali Village also proposed to support 100000 yuan in funds for the construction of 26 pig houses. In order to ensure the smooth establishment of the cooperative, Feng Shengmin did not hesitate to cut down some of his own unprofitable rubber trees and vacated land for the construction of pig sheds.

In August last year, the Shengmin Black Pig farming Cooperative was officially established, and the villagers bought shares in the cooperative with their own poverty alleviation pig seedlings. Feng Shengmin also borrowed 20,000 yuan from the bank to buy piglets with the help of the village committee to expand the scale of breeding.

After the cooperative was on the right track, Feng Shengmin and his wife took up the big and small affairs of the society. Not only do they eat and live in co-operatives and take good care of young pigs, but they also train villagers free of charge to treat the manure produced by raising pigs into organic manure for villagers to use. Under their care, the problem of stench from raising pigs no longer exists, and the heads of black pigs who grow fat and fat sell for a good price. In only half a year, Feng Shengmin earned the "first bucket of gold" by raising black pigs and paid out more than 60,000 yuan in dividends to other poor families a year ago.

"the response to raising pigs last year was good, and this year we have to expand the scale." At the beginning of the new year, Feng Shengmin has a new prospect in mind. While he plans to use the proceeds from pig farming to expand production, he plans to cut down the remaining rubber trees in his home to free up land for the co-operative to expand. "everyone is also planning to develop circular agriculture while raising pigs and introduce a characteristic planting industry in the village."

In Ding'an, Feng Shengmin is not alone. Since the beginning of the battle to get rid of poverty, Ding'an has actively co-ordinated poverty alleviation funds with the development idea of "one town, one industry, one village, one product, and one household," and at the same time, it has given support in technology, policies, and other aspects, so that poor households can develop characteristic industries in accordance with local conditions. steadily embark on the road to prosperity. According to statistics, a total of 10641 people from 2560 poor households in the county were lifted out of poverty in 2016, completing 114.8 per cent of the tasks assigned by the province.
