God is not hungry for hardworking people.

-- Guo Changrong opened up the road to wealth by growing vegetables

"growing vegetables and melons in many sheds is happy, and a pair of hands are well-off against the wind and snow." on the gate of Guo Changrong's vegetable cooperative in Longtan Village, Machang Town, Zhenning Autonomous County, there is a pair of red Spring Festival couplets, which are even more interesting. It says, "God is not hungry for hard-working people." Guo Changrong said with a smile that he wanted to remind the villagers through this horizontal couplet that only through hard work can they get rich.

"not long ago, we just built 10 new vegetable greenhouses, each covering an area of 1 mu. In the new year, we also need to strengthen management to make our brand of green pollution-free vegetables louder and bigger, make the scale of vegetable cultivation bigger and bigger, and lead more villagers to become rich." On February 6, Guo Changrong could not wait to gather his "comrades-in-arms" who were engaged in vegetable cultivation in Longtan Village, Machang Town, Zhenning Autonomous County, and they planned to fight a beautiful "vegetable growing war" in 2017.

Guo Changrong, 44, a vegetable grower in Longtan Village, Machang Town, has been helping his boss grow vegetables on farms in Zhejiang for more than a decade, and his parents are getting older and older, giving him the idea to go home and start a business.

One day, he read in the newspaper that Guizhou was carrying out large-scale poverty alleviation and that traditional agriculture was undergoing industrial restructuring. He decided that it was a good choice to grow vegetables at home. Coupled with his more than 10 years of vegetable planting experience, he would certainly be able to do something. In March last year, Guo Changrong returned to his hometown and led eight other farmers in Longtan Village to set up a professional agricultural cooperative for Ronghua planting. The cooperative raised a total of 680000 yuan. Through consultation with the villagers, the cooperative leased 62 mu of villagers' land and built dozens of vegetable greenhouses, all of which were planted with vegetables, including chili peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbages.

"the tomatoes got off to a good start this year, and the market was good, and they sold for a good price, but they really exhausted everyone." Guo Changrong told reporters that at the beginning of the newly established cooperative, the market was not mature, and the initial output was not high, and the nine members of the cooperative drove their own trucks to the market to sell it. Although it was hard, it was much higher than the wholesale price in the land. "We have a good variety of vegetables, all up to the green standard certification, the vendors are very smart, what kind of vegetables are good, they know very well, and now they are chasing us to buy." Guo Changrong said: nowadays, as long as there are mature vegetables in the field, they will be emptied by surrounding vegetable vendors in a few days.

"before the Spring Festival, we introduced a new batch of vegetables to the market, which sold more than half of them in just 10 days, and the common people also tasted the benefits." Guo Changrong calculated an account to the reporter that the original field of growing corn or rice did not count the labor, and the net income of one mu of land was at most 1000 yuan, but now that a vegetable greenhouse has been set up and vegetables are planted, one mu of land can be harvested three seasons a year, with an annual output value of at least 10000 yuan, ten times the original income from farming.

"when you grow vegetables, what you fear most is natural disasters!" Guo Changrong told reporters frankly that on May 19, 2016, Longtan Village suffered an once-in-a-decade gale, which damaged part of the vegetable greenhouse and crushed the vegetables in the greenhouse, resulting in a lot of losses for the cooperative.

"fortunately, the Machang town government has given a lot of support and is willing to turn the project funds into loans to help us tide over the difficulties." Guo Changrong added that the members are also of one mind, and with the help of the government, there are no difficulties that cannot be overcome.

"I have always adhered to the original idea of going back to my hometown to guide the villagers to change their traditional agricultural concepts, develop modern agriculture, increase their income and improve the lives of the villagers." Speaking of New year's resolutions, Guo Changrong said that he hoped that more villagers would join the cooperative, expand the scale of the vegetable planting base, and lead more villagers to embark on the road to prosperity.
