The picture shows Ma Wenying pruning mango seedlings.

Her dark skin and the bright sun of Panzhihua complement each other, her hearty smile is as warm and warm as the spring breeze in February, and the simple and confident language is reflecting the proud changes of the village over the years.

Ma Wenying, a native of Naerhe Village, Tongzilin Town, Yanbian County, Panzhihua City, was born in October 1966 and joined Communist Party of China in February 2006.

The first batch of attempts to grow mangoes are beset with difficulties.

Ma Wenying, 50, was born into an ordinary peasant family and has been working at home since graduating from junior high school in September 1980. For a long time, the family's main source of income is the cultivation of corn food crops, family life is more difficult. She was even more overwhelmed by the arrival of her two children after marriage.

How to get rid of poverty and embark on the road of well-off has become a problem that has perplexed Ma Wenying for many years.

In 1999, the nearby village of Jinhe saw initial results in growing mangoes, and Ma Wenying saw hope. The geographical location of Nahe Village is similar to that of Jinhe Village, which is rich in mountain resources, no pollution from industrial and mining enterprises, and unique climate, sunshine and temperature conditions.

At this time, after continuous exploration and investigation, the village party branch also decided to plant mango. Ma Wenying became the first batch of "crab eaters" in Nahe Village: she decisively took the lead in buying more than 1000 mango seedlings and began a long road of study and practice. However, due to the low planting technology, small fruit size, small quantity, poor taste and other problems, the economic benefit has not been very ideal.

"the planting cycle of mangoes is usually five years, but in the first year of my family, it only sold for more than 1,000 yuan," Ma Wenying recalls.

Overcome difficulties and earn nearly one million a year

In 2006, with the strong support of the party committee and government, agricultural technicians began to go to Nahe Village to guide mango planting techniques and provide theoretical and technical training to growers. The studious Ma Wenying not only took an active part in it, but also mobilized neighbors and relatives who thought that the technicians only focused on theory and were not good at practical operation.

For Ma Wenying, who only has a junior high school education, the training process is not easy, but she does not complain about hardship or tiredness. She is secretly determined to learn the skills at home. In class, Ma Wenying took notes carefully, actively asked the teacher about the knowledge he did not understand in class, and carefully studied the relevant books bought after class.

In order to practice the theory learned, Ma Wenying carried out the mango planting experiment in his 2 mu of land, applied the learned theory to practice, and constantly found and solved new problems in the process of practice.

In 2007, Ma Wenying carried out two experiments before and after, experimenting with mango planting techniques in different environments, and achieved success in new technology experiments. The success of the experiment of new mango planting technology has brought great encouragement to Ma Wenying.

In 2008, she decided to invest more than 50 mu of hillside land in her family, mainly planting "Kate" and "ivory". Due to changeable environmental factors, in May 2008, about 6 mu of mango in Ma Wenying's plantation were infected with bacterial foot spot disease.

"at that time, the mango tree had just hung its fruit, and if it was not handled properly, it would have a very great impact on the whole year's harvest." Ma Wenying dared not be careless. She actively consulted books, watched a series of mango planting programs, and asked technicians to find the causes and solutions of the problem. with the joint efforts of many parties, the disease was finally brought under control, greatly reducing the impact of fruit tree disease.

Over the past few years, Ma Wenying has not relaxed, has been learning new knowledge and new technologies, constantly improving planting techniques, and constantly broadening learning channels. By 2011, the output value of her mango orchard had reached more than 800,000 yuan, with the highest annual output value reaching nearly one million yuan in 2015. In the past, barren hills and slopes have become "rich orchards" with an output value of tens of thousands of mu. Ma Wenying has also become an advanced household in Nahe Village to grow mangoes and become a good example of getting rich.

"as long as the market is stable and the weather is not a big problem, I think it will exceed one million this year." Ma Wenying said happily.

Step into a well-off society ahead of time and greatly improve the quality of life

In 2008, the government built a road directly to Ma Wenying's home, and as a reward for her annual income of more than 500000 a year growing mangoes, the dirt road in Nahe village gradually turned into a cement road.

In the same year, Ma Wenying built a 280-square-meter villa to bid farewell to the bitter days when "the house missed all night's rain". Not only that, she also bought a house worth more than 700,000 yuan in the city as a place for her family to go to the city to do business. In her early forties, Ma Wenying also got a driver's license and bought an off-road vehicle worth more than 200,000 yuan as a means of travel and tourism. "when I'm not busy, I close the door and take my family to travel and relax," says Ma Wenying.

After graduating from college, Ma Wenying's son gave up a good job opportunity in a big city and went back to the countryside to plant mangoes with her and get rich with the villagers.

People who are rich are really rich.

While enjoying a bumper harvest, Ma Wenying did not forget to return to the society, often saying that her success depended on the concern and support of the party and the government. As a member of the Communist Party of China, she actively gave full play to the advanced nature of her party members and did not forget to stretch out her arm while developing herself. Make use of her own advantages, call on more people to participate in planting mangoes, persist in working ahead in helping, learning in front, and demonstrating in front. Continue to increase the enthusiasm of the masses to grow mangoes.
