Just after dawn, the celery base under Bozang Ridge in Heshe Town, Lingao County, was already bustling, and more than a dozen villagers were busy: some picked celery, some squatted by the canal to wash vegetable roots, tied up into a handful of ropes and stacked them.

"this little water celery looks inconspicuous, but it is a 'cash cow' for the village to get rich. Most of the villagers' living expenses depend on it, and they can build buildings after planting water celery for two or three years." Zheng Weiying, a villager of Bozang Village, told reporters happily that since November last year, 5 mu of water celery has brought him an income of more than 50,000 yuan.

According to reports, Zheng Weiying has been growing water celery for seven years in a row. She is a professional farmer of water celery in the village. A small foreign building was built in the village three years ago.

About an hour later, Zheng Weiying had picked more than 100 bundles of celery and carried it to the roadside and handed it to the waiting melon and vegetable merchant.

Counting bundles, packing, loading, accounting... Zheng Weiying took a stack of banknotes from the melon and vegetable merchant and slowly counted them: 130 bundles, 650 yuan!

"the yield of a crop of water celery per mu is about 4000 jin. Calculated according to the price of 5 to 6 yuan per jin, the estimated income of one mu of land is 20,000 yuan, two crops a year, planting 5 mu of water celery, excluding the cost, the annual income is more than 100,000 yuan." Zheng Weiying pinched her finger and calculated it for the reporter.

"usually I don't know what to do, so I can only grow water celery. This year I will grow another 2 mu to increase my income." Zheng Weiying said that at the end of last year, the government helped villagers successfully register the Bo Zangling water celery trademark, and the villagers are now very enthusiastic about growing water celery.
