In Xiange Village, Xianyuan Town, Huangshan District, there is currently the largest bamboo rat farm in the city. The owner of the farm is a 26-year-old man named Wang Longfei. Around the Spring Festival this year, he was so busy that more than 60 breeding rats gave birth to more than 200 babies one after another, the largest number since the establishment of the market.

Wang Longfei took part in an inspection tour organized by the town government in Jiangxi in the spring of 2015 and saw bamboo rats. It is learned that bamboo rats mainly eat bamboo stems, bamboo branches and corn, with fast reproduction, fresh meat and soft fur, which has high economic and medicinal value, and gave birth to the idea of breeding bamboo rats. After coming back, with the help of village cadres, we found a partner, vacated more than 80 square meters of vacant rooms at home, built more than 70 breeding ponds, and built a breeding mouse house with an area of 40 square meters. Then went to Jiangxi to buy back 100 pairs of breeding rats. Bamboo rats like warm, afraid of cold and heat, due to the lack of mastery of breeding techniques, coupled with the fact that bamboo rats can not adapt to the climate of southern Anhui, the prevention and control of the epidemic disease has not kept up, and the mortality rate of bamboo rats has reached 60%.

In the face of setbacks, he was not discouraged and went to Jiangxi to buy back 70 pairs of breeding rats. He learned the lesson, participated in the employment skills organized by the town family planning office, studied conscientiously, and finally overcame the technical difficulties of bamboo rat breeding. Breeder mice enter the breeding period in 8 months, and can reproduce 4 babies per year, each giving birth to 4 babies, and meat mice can be sold in 4 months. Last year, he made a profit of nearly 50,000 yuan from selling meat rats, and the number of breeding mice grew to more than 200 pairs.

Wang Longfei never forgets his fellow villagers when he gets rich. He has provided more than 100 pairs of breeding rats to farmers in surrounding towns such as Taiping Lake, Sankou and Yixian County, and has signed contracts with farmers to be responsible for technical guidance and bamboo and mouse sales. On this basis, a bamboo rat ecological breeding cooperative has been set up, and the breeding and breeding of rats in the cooperative will reach 400 pairs this year. Coupled with the sales of meat rats, the income is expected to reach more than 200,000 yuan.
