Guiyang, Guizhou: ten thousand mu kiwifruit orchards of technologically rich farmers give birth to "rich fruits"
Villager Li Xingxiang pruned kiwifruit trees.
Starting from Xiuwen County, walk along the southwest to Pingtan Village, Gubao Township. The undulating mountain roads are dotted with stone slopes, and small plots of farmland are dotted with them. "there are few fields and many barren mountains" was once the most embarrassing sight in Pingtan Village. Now kiwifruit trees are planted all over the mountains. Every year, tens of millions of kilograms of kiwifruit come out of the mountains, fragrant Guiyang and even outside the province. Furry, inconspicuous kiwifruit has become the "rich fruit" of the local villagers.
The annual income of technologically rich farmers is more than 300000 yuan.
On February 21, when the "late spring cold" hit, the sky began to rain, and spring ploughing had not yet begun, but the fruit forest in Pingtan Village was already a different scene. On both sides of the village road, the "T" cement frames built on the hillside fields are getting denser and denser, standing high looking down, the cement "T" words are spread all over the mountains, and the villagers are busy working through them.
The temperature has dropped to zero, and 52-year-old Li Xingxiang still insists on coming to his fruit forest early in the morning to prune kiwifruit trees. "T-frame is very important. If you want to bear fruit well, you have to rely on it. Pruning is more important. I have a clear idea of how much fruit I can bear this year, 10 jin or 20 jin. It can only bear 10 jin of fruit. I can bear 15 jin of fruit after pruning. " Li Xingxiang is one of the first villagers to grow kiwifruit in Pingtan village, and the oldest of his fruit trees is 23 years old. Now the three members of Li Xingxiang's family are all famous "fruit tree experts" in the village, and farmers often "invite" them to prune kiwifruit, with a "technical door-to-door" service fee of 300 yuan. Li Xingxiang said that if he went out with his wife and son's family, he would have nearly 1,000 yuan a day to "earn extra money."
"since planting kiwifruit, the family's income has increased more than ten times as much as when growing vegetables." Li Xingxiang calculated that he used to grow vegetables with less farmland and more barren slopes, but he didn't have enough to eat at the end of the year. In recent years, the yield and quality of kiwifruit is getting better and better year by year. Last year, the family had 7 mu of kiwifruit trees, with an output of 40, 000 jin and an income of 260000 yuan. Together with the income from other technical services, it was no problem to earn 300000 yuan a year.
All sides support kiwifruit trees to end "getting rich".
Li Xingxiang's happiness does not come easily. With an annual income from several thousand yuan to 300000 yuan, Li Xingxiang spent 20 years on the transformation from a poor vegetable farmer to a well-off technical fruit farmer.
"when we changed from growing vegetables to planting trees, no one in the village understood it, and no one could. What shall I do? Learn everywhere, ask everywhere! Where there are experts to engage in training, I will go to attend lectures, experts can not come, buy their own books and research. How to trim the branch, how sparse the fruit, keep experimenting, and start all over again if you fail. Originally, I didn't have much culture, so growing kiwifruit made me a scholar. " Li Xingxiang said.
According to Tsai Ren-Cheng, the village branch secretary of Pingtan Village, there are many "big kiwifruit" like Li Xingxiang, and there is no secret to success. There are only four words: "never give up." Cai Renzheng said that when Pingtan Village first began to promote the cultivation of kiwifruit, only a few farmers participated, and kiwifruit prices could not be sold in the first few years, but the village branch secretary at that time firmly believed that they could not go back to the hard days of relying on heaven for a living.
Over the years, the village committee has actively strived for funds for provincial, municipal and county financial poverty alleviation projects, vigorously publicized and mobilized villagers to build T-shaped cement frames, and improved the level of standardized planting. At the same time, we will strengthen infrastructure construction, transform village roads, group roads, orchard machine ploughs, etc., and build storage stores, solar energy insecticidal lights, street lamps, and so on. At the same time, technical experts such as your University, Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Department of Science and Technology are actively invited to the village to carry out technical experiments and demonstrations such as mechanical pollination, soil testing and formula fertilization, integrated prevention and control of diseases and insect pests.
In 2016, the acreage of kiwifruit in Pingtan village reached more than 12000 mu, with 9510 mu of hanging fruit, a total output of 11.8875 million kg, a total income of 130 million yuan and a per capita income of 35000 yuan. The enrollment rate of students in the village reached 99.17 percent, with 1982 mobile phones, 101 agricultural vehicles and 215 cars.
The integration of agriculture and tourism to build the whole industry chain of kiwifruit
Driven by the demonstration of Pingtan Village, "if you want to get rich quickly, growing kiwifruit is the way" has become the mantra of farmers in Xiuwen County.
Li Xingxiang said that now the kiwifruit industry in Pingtan village has been standardized, and the space for land expansion of each household is also limited. Since last year, he began to work hard on improving the taste of kiwifruit, creating high-quality fruits and famous fruits, and using organic fertilizer for green ecological management. "only by improving the quality can the market develop sustainably." Li Xingxiang said.
Gu Qingjun, deputy head of Gubao Township, Xiuwen County, said that at present, more than 95 percent of the villagers in Pingtan Village have been driven to grow kiwifruit, and the annual income of farmers with high output can even reach nearly 1 million yuan, while the annual income of ordinary farmers is between 100000 yuan and 200000 yuan.
According to the law of nature, kiwifruit blossoms in May every year, and the fruit is picked from September to October. The storage period of fresh fruit is only one month. At present, the storage capacity of cold storage in Gubao township has reached 10000 tons, and the sales period of kiwifruit can be extended to 2 to 3 months through the cold storage chain. Gu Qingjun said that in the next step, the township will continue to increase the storage capacity of cold storage, prolong the fresh fruit sales period of farmers, and at the same time continue to promote the development of kiwifruit industry, relying on large companies and bases, so that more farmers will gradually turn into industrial workers. In terms of the integrated development of agriculture and tourism, there are already 25 farmers in Gubao Township, and it is planned to integrate the resources of Pingtan Village and other villages in the future, build a kiwifruit ecological park, establish a whole industry chain, and promote the integrated development of agriculture and tourism.
At present, the kiwifruit industry in Pingtan Village has gradually formed a "company cooperative basic peasant household" development model, which effectively promotes the large-scale development of kiwifruit industry in the surrounding area and even in the whole county.
