Nowadays, in Xinhe County, as long as we talk about Karatash Village in the town of Ezhik, we all know that this is a vegetable village. Walking into the village, greenhouses are scattered one after another, and the small arch sheds are closely connected.

"We all learned the skill of growing vegetables from Chen Dezhong." On March 25, when the author went to the village for an interview, the Uygur villagers who grew vegetables said so.

Teach villagers to grow greenhouse vegetables

"Chen Dezhong is my master, and he taught us both the skills of growing vegetables." Said Mahemuti Kurban, a 73-year-old villager.

Mahe Muti has planted greenhouses for more than a decade, and now he has four greenhouses and six small arch sheds, with an annual income of more than 60,000 yuan.

"in order to learn greenhouse planting, I have also studied Chinese for a long time, and now I can understand many Chinese professional terms." Mahe Muti said. More than a decade ago, many people in the village got rich by growing greenhouse vegetables. Ma Hemuti discussed with his son that he would also learn greenhouse planting skills from Chen Dezhong, but his family laughed at him for not knowing a word of Chinese, so how to learn it?

This made Mahe Muti very angry and went to the county to buy Chinese books and tapes and went home to study.

Ma Hemuti told me that when he encounters problems, he often goes to Chen Dezhong's home, who is 10 years younger than himself, to ask him about planting techniques.

Karatash Village was the first to learn from Chen Dezhong that the greenhouse was planted by Rehe Manturafu. During the Spring Festival 20 years ago, when he saw that Chen Dezhong's green peppers sold for 8 yuan a kilogram on the street, he immediately decided to learn from Chen Dezhong.

"at that time, I first began to teach some villagers to learn greenhouse planting techniques, and then I saw that we made more and more money growing vegetables. More and more villagers came to me to learn, and some even directly built the greenhouse and then came to me to transplant seedlings." Chen Dezhong said that at that time, when the village planted the most greenhouses, there were more than 500 greenhouses and more than 1000 large arch sheds, covering an area of more than 1000 mu.

"now our village is not only responsible for the supply of vegetables in the county, but also responsible for providing vegetable seedlings to various villages. There are 282 greenhouses in the village, with a total of more than 1000 large and small arch sheds. " Rehe Muti, secretary of the village party branch, said that he was also a student of Chen Dezhong.

Help the villagers get rich together

Chen Dezhong grew up in Karatash village, but because of his lack of skills, he had no other way to get rich in the village except farming. In 1989, in order to solve the problem of people's difficulty in eating vegetables, Xinhe County set up a training course on vegetable cultivation. Chen Dezhong attended a class with a try. As a result, this industry with little investment and great benefits immediately attracted him.

At the beginning of the next spring, holding a roll of plastic film, he turned the fertile field where he grew wheat into a greenhouse and planted Chinese cabbage in the spring.

"Chinese cabbages are all planted in mid-June, so how can they be planted at the beginning of the year?" Amid doubts from his family, Chen Dezhong put fresh cabbages on the streets of Xinhe County in May, enriching local vegetable varieties.

After three or four years of exploration, Chen Dezhong began to grow on a large scale in 8 greenhouses and 50 arched greenhouses after his vegetable planting technology was mature.

"at that time, he made a lot of money and bought a Santana, and everyone was shocked. Every day, many people go to him to learn skills from him, saying that they are going to help him with his work. As a result, he has stepped on all the dirt in his shed, and he is not annoyed, but also patiently explains it to everyone. " Tashi Batusi, a veteran party member in the village, said that later, whoever encountered difficulties in planting, he would go to the house for "consultation."

"our village has more than 1000 people and more than 3000 mu of land, which is a small village in the county, but the villagers have made a fortune in recent years, and many villagers had an annual income of tens of thousands of yuan seven or eight years ago. At that time, our village bought the most cars in the county, and it was also our village that had the most active economy. Everyone thanks Chen Dezhong. As soon as the Spring Festival comes, we Uygur villagers go wave after wave to wish him a happy New year. " Tasiba said.

Take the villagers to adapt to the market

However, with the change of the economic environment, the supply of greenhouse vegetables in Karatash village also exceeds the demand.

Vegetable grower Ai Hai Tisha Li says that when there are 300 or 400 people selling vegetables in the county, the prices are OK, but when thousands of people pour in to sell vegetables, prices plummet, especially in some years when everyone grows the same variety of vegetables, the problem is particularly obvious. One winter, celery was as cheap as one yuan a kilogram and tomatoes were fifty cents a kilogram. Many people lost money so much that they could not even get their money back.

"at this time, it was Chen Dezhong who led us out of the predicament. He said that growing vegetables should live and have the idea of changing with the market. Now, we villagers have all changed our way of thinking. " Mahe Muti said that people not only learned to grow vegetables, but also learned to collect information about growing vegetables.

"We go to Aksu City and Kuqa County to see what other people plant, and we don't plant what they plant; we plant what they don't plant." Mahe Muti said that his cucumbers have been on the market this year, with an easy income of 10,000 yuan per greenhouse, and the income target of 60,000 yuan will be achieved by May.

"now, most people in our village begin to sell vegetable seedlings, because many villages in the county have planted small arch shed vegetables, and the consumption of vegetable seedlings is very large. Now we make more money selling vegetable seedlings than selling vegetables." Rhehmati said.
