When it grows to 1 kilogram for three years, it can be sold as a commercial tortoise. Last year, the market price of commercial turtles was 1200 yuan per kilogram, that is to say, the net profit of raising a commercial tortoise is at least 600 to 700 yuan, and if it is raised to lay eggs four years later and sold as a kind of turtle, one kilogram can be sold for more than 2000 yuan. If it is a full-time farm, a person can raise 2000 to 3000. If the "black neck" and other valuable varieties, the profit will be more considerable.

In addition to low cost and high efficiency, turtles are also very easy to raise. "in an ecological pool, you can keep about 20 of them per square meter, which is easy to manage. In addition, turtles only need to be fed once a day, change water every two days, and hibernate when the water temperature is below 20 degrees Celsius. Because of this, more and more people keep turtles in Zhongshan in recent years, and even some office workers have begun to use their spare time to raise turtles at home. According to statistics, there are more than 500 turtle farmers in Zhongshan, with a farming area of more than 1 million square meters, mainly raising dozens of species, such as money turtles, stone money, Annan turtles, black-necked turtles, crocodile turtles and so on.
