The inventory is large, the cost is high, the market continues to be depressed, and the income is getting lower and lower. Recently, the author visited some farmers and dealers in Lushan County to discuss the issue of corn planting that everyone is most concerned about.

Current situation

The income of ordinary corn is low, and the sales basically make no money.

Lao Wang is a villager of Maizhuang Village, Malou Township, Lushan County. Although the 8 mu Liyu 16 he planted this year was seriously affected by climate and diseases and insect pests, it still achieved high yield by virtue of its high disease resistance.

When asked whether there would be a good profit from the low corn price and bumper harvest this year, Lao Wang said that he was very glad that the variety of Liyu 16 planted was good, the yield was high, and the company served the whole process from how to plant, how to manage, and when to harvest. The output is three or four hundred jin higher than the ordinary plot. "although the price is still on the low side, the yield is still higher because the unit yield is higher." Lao Wang got some comfort in his heart.

However, in Henan Province, there are still a small number of farmers like Lao Wang. Most farmers deduct the fees for cultivated land, pesticides and fertilizers, seeds and machine harvesting, and they can't earn much money growing corn this year. If there is no expert guidance and scientific farming, farmers who do not grow well will even lose money.

Focus

What are farmers most concerned about corn planting?

When corn is planted, a few people are happy and a few are sad, but the problems that farmers are most concerned about are the following.

I. Variety quality

Good varieties are the basis of a good harvest. Farmers generally believe that the standards of good maize varieties can be summarized as follows: high yield, large kernel depth, good disease resistance, good lodging resistance, good fruit setting, high temperature resistance and drought resistance. As an old farmer said: "farming is to see more food, corn seed performance is good, high yield, naturally more people."

Second, seed price

"some corn seeds, such as Liyu 16, are too expensive and are twice as high as other corn varieties. Now the price of corn is so low, it doesn't feel worth it. "

To judge the value of a variety, you might as well analyze its input-output ratio, and then judge what kind of variety is the most expensive. Take Liyu 16 as an example, its uniform price is 55 yuan per bag, while some corn varieties are only 20 or 30 yuan per bag. Can you say that Liyu 16 is more expensive than other seeds? Generally speaking, the yield of corn seeds per mu may reach 1000 jin, while the yield of high-yield varieties such as Liyu 16 can reach more than 1600 jin per mu, with an increase of 200jin per mu and an income increase of more than 100 yuan. Obviously, which variety is more expensive?

III. Discounts for activities

In recent years, the competition in the agricultural material industry has become increasingly fierce, and promotional activities have become increasingly frequent. There are a variety of promotional methods such as "buy and give away" and "courteous entry into the store", but the effect of the activity is not so ideal.

Activities such as "Big Bang King" and "Grain King struggle for hegemony" held in Lushan County are very popular with farmers. In the activities, farmers are more concerned about the strength of the discount: when they come to the scene more than ten miles away, they will often be more disappointed to see that this is not the case; whether the gifts are practical: if the gifts are of no use, the promotion effect is very little. at present, the purchase of corn coupons, pesticides and practical daily necessities are very popular among farmers. Whether or not to participate in the discount, this move can effectively attract customers with relatively low purchasing power.

For a successful marketing campaign, it is very important whether the content of the activity is attractive or not, but it also needs to be coordinated by all-round publicity. To a certain extent, form is greater than content.

IV. National policies

"how to grow corn now, and whether the price can go up or not, are the issues that farmers are most concerned about, otherwise their enthusiasm for growing corn will be discouraged." With regard to corn sales, a farmer wants the country to be skewed in terms of policy.

According to the statistics of the State Grain Administration, there are still 49.67 million tons left after corn temporary storage is removed from the warehouse in 2013 and 80.29 million tons after corn temporary storage is removed from the warehouse in 2014. the collection and storage volume in two years brings the corn inventory in 2015 to 120 million tons, and this year's temporary storage and purchase has exceeded 93.66 million tons. the total inventory has reached 250 million tons, and the pressure of destocking in the future is huge. Recently, corn prices have been falling all the way, breaking the hearts of countless farmers. Many farmers cannot sell their corn hoarding in their hands, and their last hope lies in the corn direct subsidy policy. And the expected "direct subsidy of 300 yuan per ton of corn" has almost become the last straw for farmers. However, the corn market is doomed to oversupply in 2016, and digesting inventory is the key point in the future!

Marketization has been mentioned many times in the national policy document, but at present, it still needs the guidance of government departments to let farmers enter the market. China's information guidance in agriculture is still much worse, and it has done little to guide farmers. Farmers arrange planting only on the basis of experience, which often leads to frequent difficulties in selling, because farmers do not understand what the market really needs and do not have the ability to analyze market demand. Functional departments need to let farmers not only know what is lacking in the market and arrange planting accordingly, but also need to carry out regulation and control, where to plant what varieties, how much area to plant, and to avoid swarms of planting, which could have made money, but in the end, due to oversupply, they don't make any money. This is also a way to prevent farmers from relying too much on agricultural subsidies.

The way out

Only by planting corn in this way can we have a bright way to make money.

Corn needs structural reform, that is, reducing ordinary corn and increasing the planting area of silage corn and characteristic corn is a way out for corn planting.

It is understood that in the consumption structure of corn in our province, ordinary corn accounts for the majority. The next step is to guide farmers to reduce the planting area of ordinary corn, promote the transformation from the dual structure of grain economy to the ternary structure of grain economy and feed, promote the conversion of corn and other crops into feed, and change the planting and cultivation of food crops into cash crops in suitable areas. the separation of planting and cultivation into a combination of planting and breeding, circular development, and gradually reduce grain corn for the development of silage corn and crops such as soybeans, millet and peanuts.

In an interview, an old farmer in Malou Township said that he had grown Liyu 16 for six or seven years, with a total of 18 mu of land, bought 18 bags of corn every year, and all the corn harvested was used as feed for raising pigs. moreover, the corn he grows alone can no longer meet the needs of breeding, and he has to spend money on corn as feed every year.

Industry experts believe that the way to grow ordinary corn is to promote high-yield and high-quality varieties, increase the yield per unit area, and let farmers make money by growing corn. At the same time, we should speed up the cultivation and promotion of direct-harvest varieties, let farmers harvest corn grains like wheat, and realize the whole mechanization of corn planting and storage, so as to further save labor and reduce the cost of corn production.

In addition, it is also a good choice to speed up land circulation and promote moderate large-scale planting, by greatly reducing the cost of corn production and enhancing market competitiveness, so that farmers can make money by growing corn in the fierce market competition.
