In 1997, China's total rice output exceeded 207 million tons for the first time. The landslide was caused by structural adjustment from 1997 to 2003. However, rice has been developing steadily since 2004, achieving 12 consecutive increases. China's rice output reached a record high in 2015, and the per capita share of the country has exceeded the per capita consumption. Second, the mismatch of resources and large inventory. We use 7% of the arable land to feed 22% of the population, but we consume a large amount of chemical fertilizers and agricultural chemicals. In addition, there are some problems in China's rice industry, such as low industrial chain, high cost, low efficiency, lack of brand and so on.

At present, there are several main problems: first, the processing industry, China's rice brand building is so difficult, an important reason is that the technical content of rice processing is relatively low. Every family can set up a small brand by buying a machine. Why did this situation come into being? Because there is a serious surplus of processing capacity. The research force of rice industry in our country is very strong, but the strength of rice industry is very weak, we call it strong and weak in the industry, and it is difficult to develop rice industry. Second, the public influence of rice brand in China is not strong. Although there are some regional brands, there are also many problems, especially in some major producing provinces can not promote a real brand with geographical indications, it should be said that the regional brand is not strong, the brand market share of large enterprises is not very high. There are many characteristic resources of rice, including selenium-rich rice, recycled rice and so on, but there is no particularly loud brand, rice brand building is not enough. Comparatively speaking, Thai fragrant rice and Japanese Yueguang rice have great international influence.

The development trend of high-quality rice in China is to promote the realization of the three modernizations as a whole: standardization, scale and brand, and market benefits from the subdivision of uses. In China, 82% of rice is eaten as rations, and there are many special varieties for other uses. For example, the promotion area of "Zhongjiazao 17" is very fast in the past two years. Why? Because it is especially suitable for making rice noodles and rice noodles that southerners like to eat, it is very popular in Hunan, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places, so the variety is promoted very quickly. On the basis of subdivision of use, high-quality rice should be planned and distributed rationally at the national level, and the use and planting areas should be distinguished.
