Female students returned to their hometown to raise porcupines. On May 14, 2017, it was reported that at a porcupine farm in Weiyuan County, Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, the enclosure converted from an abandoned factory was divided into small rooms, each with three to six porcupines. If you get a little closer, you can hear the sound of "rustling"-"it's the sound of porcupine thorns and wall friction," says he Yahui, owner of the farm.

He Yahui, who graduated from Xihua normal University, is a standard post-90s. Talking about her original intention of going back to her hometown to start a business, she said that by chance, she saw someone raising porcupines on the CCTV Agricultural Channel. Unlike the traditional breeding industry, special farming will not have big market competition and the risk will not be too great. Before she graduated at that time, she had the idea of starting her own business. So during her internship before graduation, he Yahui went to a porcupine farm in Hunan to learn breeding techniques.

However, the idea of raising porcupine was opposed by our grandparents. "they are the older generation, and when they think that a college student finally comes out of the family, they should definitely work in the city," says he Ya-hui. Fortunately, he Yahui's parents were very supportive, not only helped her persuade the elderly, but also took out more than 100,000 yuan to support her, helping her to implement the current breeding ground.

He Yahui initially bought only more than 30 breeding pigs, but she faced many problems in the actual breeding process. She was puzzled by the fact that many newborn babies were either killed or bitten by sows. Later, through slow observation, groping and learning, the problem was solved. These problems rarely occur in the second batch of breeding pigs bought back.

Now, for he Yahui, who has a lot of experience in porcupine farming, raising porcupine is a worry. As long as you get up every morning and check it out, you only need to feed it twice a day and clean the pond once. It takes only a few hours before and after. And after learning breeding techniques, the mortality rate of her porcupine is almost zero. He Yahui told reporters that despite the fact that the porcupine does not look amazing, but on the dinner table, it is a delicacy, high in protein, low in fat, rich in calcium phosphate and other nutrients, known as "animal ginseng." At present, porcupine farming in Neijiang is still unpopular, and it is very popular in some farm music and game restaurants. In addition, the thorn on the back of the porcupine is also very useful, one is medicinal value, it can soak wine, or it can be burned and ground into powder to treat burns; it can also be used to make hairpins, fishing gear and so on.

This year, he Yahui plans to continue to expand the scale of breeding, which will bring an increase of more than 200 heads. He Yahui said that more than 200 commercial pigs and breeding pigs were sold in 2016, with an average annual profit of about 300000 yuan last year. At present, she also plans to set up a cooperative in the village to provide free technology and seedlings to the villagers, and to recycle finished pigs, so as to provide everyone with a way to get rich.
