Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Xie Guangrong, the leader of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich in Zhouning County, finally got rid of poverty by digging in vegetable fields.

She was ill-fated and took up the heavy burden of her family at the age of 18, and the family's physical work depended on her. Hard work makes life easier. I don't want my mother to be paralyzed and suffer from liver cirrhosis, but she has not been knocked down by difficulties. Today, she grows more than 50 mu of vegetables and sets up a vegetable fresh-keeping storehouse with an annual income of more than 100,000 yuan. She is Xie Guangrong, the leader of Chiyan Village, Siqiao Township, Zhouning County.

Weak shoulders prop up the family

In the vegetable base of Xie Guangrong in Chiyan village, dozens of centimeters of cauliflower plants are bathed in the sun, arranged in an orderly manner and full of vitality.

Xie Guangrong is squatting on the edge of the ridge, pulling out the weeds next to him, while her husband is tidying up the furrow on the other side, ready to plant the second batch of cauliflower.

Xie Guangrong is an out-and-out farmer in Chiyan village. after joining the village cooperative in 2016, Xie Guangrong contracted 50 mu of land to grow vegetables such as cauliflower, chili peppers and string beans. She said that she likes to grope in the fields all day. This dish is like her own child. Watching them take root, grow up and bear fruit, they are very happy. Growing vegetables can bring her happiness and confidence.

Xie Guangrong, 48, has spent most of his life fighting poverty. Looking back on the past, her eyes filled with tears. At the age of 9, her father gave her away as soon as she clenched her teeth because her parents were in poor health and the family was poor and could not support their three children. At her adoptive parents' house, she is busy with farm work all day.

At the age of 18, unfortunately, his 15-year-old brother died, his parents were in great grief, his mother was in poor health, his father had an old injury and was unable to participate in manual labor, and his younger brother was only 12 years old. Looking at this shaky home, she got through the ideological work of her adoptive parents and decided to go home.

The year of 2009 was originally the flowering season of life, but Xie Guangrong propped up a family with his weak shoulders. Raising pigs and farming, chopping wood and picking tea, all the physical work of the family depends on her. "at that time, I was too poor to open the pot. I had to rely on sweet potato rice and potatoes to fill my stomach, and every guest at home had to borrow food." Xie Guangrong said, "my family is so poor and miserable that I can't leave home and live a comfortable life by myself. When I reached the marriage age, I followed the advice of my family and relatives and recruited a young man, Zhang Yibao, to marry. "

After marriage, three sons were born one after another, and the family could not make a living only by farming and picking tea. In order to increase their income, Xie Guangrong and his husband get up at more than 3 o'clock every morning to carry water, mix noodles, and fry Youtiao. At dawn, they go to nearby villages to hawk, sell Youtiao and continue to do farm work and take care of their families.

As the money earned by frying Youtiao was still not enough to cover the family's expenses, her husband advised her not to do it and went to Pingnan to grow shiitake mushrooms. As a result, Xie Guangrong embarked on the journey out of poverty.

Get sick one after another and get into trouble again

In March 2005, when Xie Guangrong was busy running at both ends of Zhou Ning and Pingnan, his mother fell ill and paralyzed.

Xie Guangrong said that at that time, the family managed 3 mu of tea garden and 4 mu of land, raised three pigs, and went to Pingnan to help when growing shiitake mushrooms. The family had to take care of the children and the elderly. She was busy from 5 am to midnight every day. The neighbors advised not to work so hard, which was bad for her health, but she thought it was okay for young people to eat a little bitterness, no matter how tired they were, sleep at night and get better the next day.

It is inconvenient to grow shiitake mushrooms in other places, and they can't make much money. When Hsieh Kuang-jung and his wife saw that people in Pingnan were growing out-of-season vegetables and had a good market, they went out of their way to learn how to grow vegetables. In 2007, they became the first household in Chiyan Village to grow vegetables professionally. They did not want to lose more than 6000 yuan on 3 mu of cauliflower because of factors such as the maturity of cauliflower coincided with heavy rain and poor sales. Xie Guangrong was not discouraged, summed up experience, insisted on growing out-of-season vegetables, and finally achieved success, life slightly improved.

In May 2011, Xie Guangrong, who is still busy every day, found himself working harder and harder, sometimes even climbing a staircase. Only when he went to the hospital for examination did he know that he had liver cirrhosis, which was like a bolt from the blue to Xie Guangrong. Two years ago, we borrowed money to build a new house, but now we have to borrow money to see a doctor.

The house missed all night's rain, and shortly after Xie Guangrong's operation, her father was often hospitalized because of an illness in his leg. His mother was paralyzed, his father and himself were sick, and the medical expenses were like running water. Over the past two or three years, Xie Guangrong was saddled with a debt of more than 200,000 yuan. She dragged her sick body, kept on working and went around to raise money. Speaking of this difficult time, Xie Guangrong's eyes moistened again.

What makes her feel guilty so far is that on one occasion, when she came home from work and saw her mother urinate in a wet bed, she hurriedly changed the bedding and then washed and cooked. After a while, her mother wet the bed again, so tired she couldn't help scolding her mother. When talking about this, Xie Guangrong regretted it.

Join the cooperative to get rid of poverty

Although misfortune always befell Xie Guangrong, she was never overthrown.

In the spring of 2014, the Siqiao township government took the initiative to help coordinate and provide guarantee to help Xie Guangrong with a loan of 50,000 yuan. The couple, who survived desperately, expanded the scale of vegetable cultivation to 50 mu, earning more than 50,000 yuan that year, alleviating the family's difficulties.

Agricultural production was deeply affected by the weather. In October 2015, when a typhoon hit and dozens of acres of chili peppers to be harvested were blown to pieces, Xie Guangrong was once again in trouble. Cadres linked to poverty alleviation in counties, townships and villages visited her home to learn more about her family's production and living conditions, discussed ways to get rid of poverty, and sent 2000 yuan in aid-the-poor funds.

In view of the poverty caused by illness in Xie Guangrong's family, at the beginning of 2016, Xie Guangrong and his family were included in accurately helping poor families to set up archives and joined the vegetable professional cooperative in Chiyan Village under the guidance of village cadres.

After joining the cooperative, with the help of policy funds and under the technical guidance of agricultural technicians, Xie Guangrong's family's income reached 80,000 yuan in 2016, lifting them out of poverty. Xie Guangrong said with emotion that through the standardized management of cooperatives, members help each other, and the ability to resist risks has been greatly improved.

In May last year, Xie Guangrong, together with three villagers, wanted to build a fresh-keeping warehouse in the village, but where the money came from and how to solve the problem. When the village director, Zhou Yanyu, learned of this, he offered to help her borrow 72000 yuan from the township credit cooperative. In September, a vegetable fresh-keeping cold storage with an area of 70 square meters was built, which can store 500 tons of vegetables.

When talking about the benefits of the fresh-keeping warehouse, Xie Guangrong went on and on: "with the fresh-keeping warehouse, you can store vegetables until the price is right, you can make relatively stable profits, and you can also curb the occurrence of vegetable diseases and insect pests." to minimize the weight loss of vegetables and the loss of diseases and insect pests. " Xie Tiancai, a local vegetable farmer, interjected that with the fresh-keeping warehouse, Xie Guangrong became the broker of vegetable farmers in the village and was not afraid of vegetable vendors driving down prices.

Now, Xie Guangrong's burden is beginning to lighten gradually. The two sons go out to make money, and the youngest son is a senior. In March this year, thanks to the efforts of the family, the house was built with an additional floor. "at present, the house has not been decorated yet. I believe it will be decorated soon when I have the money to decorate it later." Xie Guangrong said.
