Liu Fucai, 28, is a villager of Fanyang Si Village, Fanyang Town, Wuzhishan City, Hainan Province. After graduating from high school, he set up a farming cooperative in his hometown. He raised pigs, chickens, ducks and bananas successively, but all made meagre profits. In 2015, Liu Fucai tried to raise six porcupines and made a good profit. In May 2016, he made a special trip to Taoyuan County, Hunan Province to learn the experience and technology of porcupine breeding. After coming back, Liu Fucai did the work of communicating with his family and took out the 120000 yuan originally intended to build a new house. On the basis of the original cooperative farm, he built a biogas ecological recycling porcupine farm covering an area of 300m2, and with the coordination and help of the local government, the "government + cooperative + poor households" model led 27 poor households in Fanyang three and four villages to join cooperatives and participate in porcupine farming. At present, more than 100 porcupines are raised in Liu Fucai's porcupine farm, and poor households regularly take turns to work and learn breeding techniques. It is estimated that by the end of this year, nearly 200 porcupines will be listed, and each poor household will be able to make a profit of more than 4000 yuan. Liu Fucai said: "Porcupine breeding costs are low, profits are high, I have confidence in porcupine breeding." At the same time, he hopes to gradually expand the scale of farming and expand the industry. "I will not only lead poor households out of poverty, but also lead everyone to become rich and well-off."
