Ren Wenwen (first from right) introduces ostriches to tourists
Ren Wenwen, a post-80s youth from Jiangyou, returned home to start a business to develop ostrich breeding. after seeing the benefits, she devoted herself to the construction of a family farm, and led the villagers to develop ostrich breeding and work together to get rich.
Recently, when the reporter saw Ren Wenwen in Shuikoumiao Village, Dakang Town, Jiangyou City, she was busy laying a sunshade net for the newly built restaurant. The capable figure and full-spirited voice were the first impression of the post-80s generation.
Ren Wenwen told reporters that she is from Jiangyou City. After graduating from normal school in 2001, she has successively worked, opened bars and teahouses, and her business has been lukewarm. In 2014, Ren Wenwen saw ostriches raised in Thailand on a travel show, which touched her heart to start a business again. At present, people are very receptive to novel things, so why not go back to their hometown to raise ostriches? So Ren Wenwen, who found the entrepreneurial direction, began to collect a large number of information about ostrich breeding. Ren Wenwen found that the whole body of ostrich is treasure, the skin is high-quality leather, feathers can be used as elegant decorations, meat is nutritious, eggs taste delicate and delicious, and eggshells can be carved and drawn into handicrafts.
In September 2014, Ren Wenwen transferred 30 mu of land in Shuikoumiao Village, Dakang Town, acquired ostrich seedlings and began ostrich breeding. At first, Ren Wenwen took many detours because she was not familiar with the life habits of ostriches. The little ostrich bought was often sick because she was not satisfied with the soil and water. Ren Wenwen sought medical treatment everywhere and invited experts to check on the field. she found that the site was wet and the heat preservation work had not been done well, so Ren Wenwen rebuilt the enclosure under the guidance of the experts. after some careful breeding, the little ostriches finally sprang to life. This experience made Ren Wenwen realize that these animals from desert areas are extremely sensitive to the living environment, and it is not easy to raise them well. In order to take good care of the ostrich, Ren Wenwen stayed with the ostrich every day, cleaning the enclosure and feeding the food. She also went to other ostrich farms to learn experience.
The hard work finally paid off. After the first batch of ostriches were raised, Ren Wenwen sold it to restaurants with special dishes around her, making a lot of money. While supplying to the restaurant, Ren Wenwen found that a serving of ostrich meat could sell for hundreds of yuan in the restaurant. "the terminal industry is the profit gathering point," said Ren Wenwen, who began to plan to set up her own specialty restaurant. "there are many scenic spots around Dakang Town, which has a certain gathering effect, so I thought of setting up a family farm and combining farming with tourism. The prospect must be good." Ren Wenwen said.
In October 2016, Ren Wenwen transferred 90 mu of land around the farm, set up Jiangyou Yujia Family Farm, and built an ecological industry integrating catering, leisure and tourism relying on the ostrich breeding base. With the support of her family and the local government, Ren Wenwen invested more than 4 million yuan to build restaurants, fishing ponds and other facilities, and transformed the environment to introduce a number of characteristic animals. Nowadays, at Yujia Family Farm, visitors can not only watch ostriches and taste ostrich meat and egg products, but also enjoy novel animals such as peacocks and Dutch pigs.
At present, Ren Wenwen's family farm has been on the right track, with a daily reception capacity of 500 people, and more and more tourists come here for leisure, especially during holidays. With the increase in the number of tourists, ostrich breeding alone has been unable to meet the demand. Ren Wenwen also plans to set up an ostrich breeding professional cooperative to mobilize the surrounding villagers to raise ostriches and get rich together.
"although it is hard to start a business, as long as you have a dream in your heart, I believe you can succeed through hard work." Ren Wenwen said that when she encountered setbacks in starting a business, she always used this sentence to motivate herself.
