In order to realize the modernization of edible fungus cultivation, since he graduated from Zhejiang Agricultural University in 1987, he has been engaged in technical experiment, demonstration, base construction and technical popularization of edible and medicinal fungi in the production line.

Shi Li has conducted in-depth research on the breeding and facility control cultivation techniques of new varieties such as Lentinus edodes, Auricularia auricula, and Xiuzhen mushrooms, and has successively obtained 2 non-major crop varieties in Zhejiang Province, 3 invention patents and 2 utility model patents. Presided over and participated in more than a dozen scientific research projects. "I have always aimed at the transformation and upgrading of the edible mushroom industry. Mushroom farmers want to pick mushrooms in leather shoes and sell mushrooms in cars. I think this is a very good idea. Now some mushroom farmers have made this dream come true." Due to the backward equipment and technology, long time in making rods, high scrapping rate and poor working environment, the traditional mushroom farmers complain constantly. The professional production mode of mushroom sticks created by Shili has solved the technical problems in all aspects of material selection, material preparation, sterilization, inoculation and transportation, and replaced more than 200 traditional sterilization stoves in the county with 20 professional mushroom rod production lines. Now, mushroom farmers can obtain professional and high-quality bacterial sticks directly from high-efficiency sterilization stations at a lower price, which greatly reduces the labor intensity and improves the economic benefits. This production mode has been widely used in the whole province.

Shi Li said: since it is necessary to do a good job in choosing this industry, the technical research in the edible mushroom industry is relatively special, and generally there are no results in the short term. In order to do a good job in variety research and innovative cultivation methods, it requires repeated experiments and accumulation for a long time. The continuous production of edible mushrooms is highly seasonal. under different environmental conditions every day, the study needs to track and record the growth of mushrooms in time. Sometimes if you miss a day, you may miss a season of research time and can only wait for the coming year to continue. In order to record first-hand research data, Shi Li admitted that his spare time is very simple and boring, time is completely in line with the pace of agricultural production, for him there is no fixed rest days, almost 365 days a year dealing with mushrooms. If you can bear loneliness, you can keep the prosperity. For him, it is the greatest pleasure to find and solve problems constantly, and it is his duty to solve technical bottlenecks and meet the production needs of farmers. In the professional bacterial stick production mode, just how to send the bacterial stick to the hands of mushroom farmers without secondary pollution, Shi Li pondered for a whole year, and to solve the problem of high scrap rate of bulging bags, he repeatedly experimented for two years, reducing the original bag expansion rate of more than 50% to 0.5% now. "when you focus all your energy on one thing, stick to it and you will get something, sooner or later." Shi Li said with emotion, "it is precisely a group of craftsmen who have been working hard for ten years to develop new varieties and new technologies that have led to the prosperity of the edible mushroom industry in Wuyi."

At present, Shi Li is focusing on the field of organic edible fungi. He hopes to organize edible fungi and achieve factory production, and adhere to the craftsman spirit of Excelsior.
