Under the influence of global climate change, many countries pay more and more attention to the quality of seed production in order to maintain crop production. According to the statistics of the International seed Federation, Taiwan's seed exports rank 22nd in the world, and their exports have grown year after year, mostly to India, mainland China, Thailand, Vietnam and other countries, mainly leafy vegetables, melons and fruits, eggplant and so on.

Taiwan should also push organic seeds.

According to the statistics of the Council of Agriculture, the organic planting area in Taiwan has reached 8854 hectares, mainly rice and vegetables. However, Taiwan still does not have a qualified organic seed production base. At present, most organic seeds are imported from the United States, Japan, Canada, and other countries. Therefore, in order to meet the growing demand for organic planting at home and abroad, seed farms have invested in the production and technological development of organic seeds in recent years.

Zhong Wenquan, deputy director of the seed and seedling farm, said that in addition to having its own conditions when planting, in fact, there must be regulations such as isolation and pesticide spraying at the seed production stage, and producing organic seeds is not as simple as imagined. Therefore, the seedling farm is expected to set up a 30-hectare organic seed production base within three to five years.

The seedling farm said that in the future, the European Union will pass a new bill on organic agriculture and adopt the principle of "compliance." as long as products from all over the world can be produced in accordance with EU regulations, they can be imported into the EU for sale. At the same time, it is also required to increase the supply of organic seeds and seedlings. At present, more and more farmers and operators in China are investing in the organic market to strive for transformation, which is bound to lead to an upsurge of "green gold industry" in organic seed production in the future.
