"They say farming is hard. Many people, especially young people, don't want to do this, but I'm willing to be a farmer with my face facing the loess and my back facing the sky." Guo Tangsheng of Yutian Town, Suichuan County, told reporters that he returned to his hometown in his early thirties and planted crops. The transferred land under his name has now exceeded 4000 mu, which is quite famous among local grain farmers. Guo Tangsheng modestly summarized the "success" in everyone's mouth as "hard work, scientific farming, income increase and wealth".

A layman becomes a farmer.

Guo Tangsheng, born in 1975, like most people, went out to work for his family's livelihood. He had been engaged in passenger transport for many years and saved some savings. In 2008, in a chat with friends, Guo Tangsheng learned that fewer and fewer people were farming in his hometown, and also saw more and more rural young and middle-aged laborers going out to work, resulting in an increase in abandoned land in the village. "Thinking that it was tiring and dangerous for me to run passenger transport, I came back and wanted to reuse these lands." In 2008, Guo Tangsheng, who did not know how to cultivate, invested all his savings, transferred more than 200 mu of land from villagers, invited a technician, and began to explore the way to grow grain and become rich.

In the first two years, Guo Tangsheng's circulation of more than 200 mu of land not only failed to produce benefits, but suffered a lot of losses due to his lack of understanding of grain planting technology and field management. Originally to the transfer of land to grow grain on the hesitant attitude of the family also advised Guo Tangsheng to give up, unwilling Guo Tangsheng often look for local agricultural technicians, other grain farmers exchange, comparative reflection. The following year, Guo Tangsheng, who obtained the "true scriptures," finally ushered in a bumper harvest. "I attended classes, studied, consulted information myself, and exchanged experiences with farmers. In scientific farming, I have also changed from a layman to a beginner agricultural technician. I can solve ordinary problems by myself." Guo Tangsheng smiled.

More than 4000 mu of land, how can Guo Tangsheng be busy? He said that the days of man plowing oxen pulling crops were long gone. In order to improve efficiency, in recent years, Guo Tangsheng has purchased more than 20 farming machines such as plant protection drones, rice transplanters, harvesters and grain dryers with self-raised funds, basically realizing the mechanization of crops from planting to harvesting, and the area of circulating land has increased year by year.

Multiple guarantees, full of confidence

God's Word is God's Word, God's Word is God's Word. And sometimes there are problems with the quality of pests, diseases, seeds, and pesticides. If you invest in them, the output will be gone." Guo Tangsheng, who has been growing grain for nearly ten years, suffered technical losses and fell "disease falls". In 2015, the weather changed repeatedly during the rice growth period, and the disaster prevention technology was still deficient. More than 300 mu of rice in more than 4000 mu of land transferred by Guo Tangsheng was infected with rice blast, which caused great losses to him.

In order to change the embarrassing situation and improve the disaster carrying capacity, Guo Tangsheng paid a premium of 3.6 yuan per mu to Suichuan No.1 Insurance Company according to the insured area, including 1.8 yuan from the local financial subsidy. "In addition, the county also hired experts in agriculture and meteorology to set up an agricultural insurance expert collaboration network to send agricultural disaster risk warning information through mobile phones." With insurance, we peasants feel much more at ease."

With more than 4000 mu of land, Guo Tangsheng invests a lot in seeds, chemical fertilizers, pesticides, machinery, etc. every year. With the subsidies of various government policies benefiting farmers, Guo Tangsheng's pressure has been reduced a lot this year. Guo Tangsheng told reporters that before the introduction of the rural land ownership policy, farmers worried that after the farmland was transferred or contracted, their rights and interests could not be guaranteed, the land circulation was difficult, and the grain farmers also lacked the enthusiasm for long-term investment. Now that the land has been confirmed, the government encourages land circulation, farmers 'worries disappear, and grain farmers are confident. "Recalling these years of grain cultivation, I am delighted by the development and changes in the past five years, and more and more preferential policies have effectively solved our worries." Now that life is better off, we have to work harder to make abandoned land productive."
