Li Heiyue and his farmed African geese

Yesterday, speaking of a group of "new members" African geese, Li Heiyue, a villager of Liangping Village, Wutou Town, Xin'an County, smiled all over his face. These more than 200 African geese lit up his hope of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich.

When life is difficult, the village sends good news.

Liangping Village is located in the hills, the land is barren, excluding seeds, fertilizers and other costs, farming can hardly earn money.

A few years ago, Li Heiyue was in good health, sometimes doing odd jobs in the county, but at the beginning of last year, he suffered from stomach bleeding and had troubles with his wife Li Lianying. "my son and wife work in Zhengzhou. It's nice that they can take care of themselves. We can't drag down the children any more." Li Heiyue said that his wife had a heart attack, and the two had to spend 800 to 900 yuan a month on medicine alone.

Unexpectedly, the village sent them good news: the village should help poor families raise African geese, buy wild goose seedlings and technical learning without the expense of poor families, and at a later stage, there are enterprises door-to-door acquisition and sales.

The wild goose seedling was delivered to the door, and there was something to look forward to in the busy day.

In April, more than 200 wild goose seedlings were sent to Li Heiyue's home.

In order to make African geese live comfortably, Li Heiyue specially built wild goose houses and activity venues for them: the wild goose houses with brick and concrete structures were roofed, the ground was covered with thick straw, and the walls were covered with breathable windows. the one-person-high green barbed wire fence has surrounded an activity area of nearly 30 square meters, and a shelter has been built on the south side to protect them from the sun and rain.

Chop grass, mix fodder, clear goose dung. Since this flock of African geese "settled", these have become the daily work of Li Heiyue and his wife. Li Lianying goes out at more than 5 o'clock every day. She wants to go to the nearby hillside to mow grass for African geese while it is not hot. More than 200 African geese feed mainly on grass mixed with wheat bran, with a total daily food intake of more than 40 jin. Li Lianying took the big bamboo basket at home and cut two baskets full of grass, which was almost enough for them to eat for a day.

"African geese are easier to raise than chickens, but you can't be careless." Li Lianying said that in the hustle and bustle, life passes quickly and there is something to look forward to!

By the end of this year, the family is expected to take off its "poverty cap".

When Yan Miao first arrived at Li Heiyue's house, each weighed less than 1 jin. Now some of them have grown to four or five jin. According to the technician who provides breeding services for Li Heiyue, generally speaking, African geese weigh about 8 jin, and according to the current purchase price of about 7 yuan per jin, this group of African geese will be able to sell for more than 10,000 yuan in two months.

Next month, Li Heiyue's family will welcome another flock of African geese, the second batch of geese this year, with more than 100. "with the succession of the two batches, African geese can roll out of the hurdle." Li Lianying said that the technicians had estimated that their family would have an income of one or two thousand yuan a month, and by the end of this year, her family would hopefully take off their "poverty cap."

The meat and eggs of African geese are popular high-grade nutritious food. Liangping Village adopts the mode of "company + peasant household" to develop breeding according to local conditions, which not only solves the technical problem, but also solves the marketing problem of farmers. At present, more than 30 poor households in Liangping village participate in African wild goose breeding. By applying for subsidies for poverty alleviation through science and technology, each household can enjoy a subsidy of 5000 yuan, which is mainly used to buy wild goose seedlings. After the subsidy, the breeding enthusiasm of poor households has been greatly improved.
