SciDev.Net: (reporter GE Yang) yesterday, under the guidance of village cadres, along the winding mountain road, the reporter went to Niandao Village, Guanpo Town, Lushi County, and began to stay in the village for interviews.

From 7: 00 to 11:00, more than 4 hours' journey, the reporter fully felt the "far" of Niandao Village. Although panting and sweating, the reporter gained a lot.

As soon as he arrived in Niandao Village, the reporter found that the village had its own characteristics: by the side of the road at the entrance of the village, there was not a piece of idle land, and there were high and low shiitake mushroom planting sheds, large and small. The roar of machines came from the planting shed, and the villagers were busy drilling holes in the mushroom bags to breathe.

"growing Lentinus edodes may not work." Xie Defang, a villager, once planted Lentinus edodes. As a result, half of the Lentinus edodes was spoiled. After losing all the money, he simply stopped growing it.

After studying the two committees of Niandao Village and the poverty alleviation cadres stationed in the village, it was decided that Lentinus edodes should still be planted, but it should be planted scientifically. After their study, they found that some areas of Lushi County have luxuriant trees, cool summer climate, large temperature difference between day and night, and the advantages of climate and resources are very suitable for the production of out-of-season shiitake mushrooms.

"Lao Xie was honest and willing to bear hardships, but he lost money and fell into poverty because he didn't know how to use technology." Mo Yinpo, director of the Nandao village committee, said, "so now we teach him to grow shiitake mushrooms hand in hand."

This year, the Xie family built a total of three sheds and planted 12000 bags of shiitake mushrooms. Through technical assistance, the bad bag rate of Lentinus edodes in the old Xie family has been reduced to less than 2%. According to the current market, the net income of a bag of shiitake mushrooms is three or four yuan, while the old Xie family can earn more than 40,000 yuan a year. "growing Lentinus edodes used to earn more money than going out to work, and now the children have tuition fees!" Thinking about income, Lao Xie said happily.

"I didn't expect that growing shiitake mushrooms would lift me out of poverty and become rich." Yang Chengzhang, a villager who is picking shiitake mushrooms in the greenhouse of a professional cooperative of edible mushroom growers in the village, said with a smile. Yang Chengzhang is an anti-poverty household in Niandao Village. He has been planting in the edible mushroom cooperative on his doorstep for nearly a year.

"We give priority to employing poor households as pickers. In addition, we will also invest in erecting more shiitake mushroom sheds, contract them to poor families in the surrounding villages, and give dividends to everyone after the harvest. " Yang Tianhu, director of the cooperative, pointed to the greenhouse under construction and said, "the dividend to poor households has not been left behind for a year."

Good cultivation of shiitake mushrooms, cultivation of the industry, "growth" out of wealth. It is understood that the poor families in Niandao Village rely on Lentinus edodes to pick up the burden of getting rich and gradually drive on the fast track of happiness.
