Cassava is one of the three major cassava crops in China, which is widely planted in China, but there are some diseases and insect pests that harm its yield and quality. So how to control cassava diseases and insect pests? Let's take a look.

1. Bacterial wilt

Bacterial Fusarium wilt, also known as gum disease, is one of the world diseases of cassava, which is extremely difficult to control. It mainly harms the stems and leaves of cassava, and the yield will be reduced by more than 50% in serious cases. First of all, infect the leaf margin or night tip, appear watery disease spot, the disease spot will also appear yellow secretion, and then spread from the bottom up, which will spread the whole leaf in a short time, causing the leaf to wither until the whole plant dies.

Prevention and treatment methods: first, disinfect and sterilize the seed stem, because there is no specific treatment for the disease, so give priority to prevention. Agricultural streptomycin sulfate, copper hydroxide wettable particle powder and other agents have a certain inhibitory effect on it. Can be used appropriately.

2. Bacterial angular spot

Generally began to occur in May, in August to September the disease is more serious, when the disease appears water-stained horn spots, more scattered in all parts of the leaves, the disease spots will secrete yellow latex. When it begins to invade the leaf edge, it will appear yellow halo, gradually expand and merge, and become dark brown, until the leaves turn yellow and fall off.

Control methods: select varieties with strong disease resistance, clean up the diseased and residual plants before planting, burn them centrally, and find that the diseased plants are to remove the leaves and spray chemicals to avoid the spread of the disease.

3. Brown angular spot

It is common in China, which mainly harms the leaves. Irregular brown disease spots will appear on both sides of the leaves during the disease, which will lead to the yellowing of the leaves until they dry up and fall off.

Prevention and control methods: similar to the prevention and control of bacterial spots, the varieties with strong disease resistance should be selected first, and the stem should be prevented and treated in time when no disease is found.

4. Insect pests

There are many insect pests in cassava, mainly mites, thrips, red spiders, termites and beetles, which will lead to a sharp decline in yield when insect pests break out.

Prevention and control methods: timely prevention and control of insect pests, comprehensive use of physical control, biological control, chemical control to avoid yield reduction.
