Time and method of fertilization for lettuce: how to fertilize lettuce? When does lettuce apply fertilizer when it is drained?
Lettuce is a common vegetable in our life, its stem can be stir-fried or cold, taste crisp, nutritious, leaves can also be eaten, also known as lettuce. If you want to grow lettuce well, the important point is to apply fertilizer, so how to fertilize lettuce? Let's take a look.
1. Characteristics of fertilizer requirement
Lettuce needs more than a dozen elements when it grows, among which the most conventional elements are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, and the demand for potassium is the greatest. According to research, for every 1000 kilograms of lettuce, 4.5kg of potassium fertilizer is needed. In the seedling stage, it does not have high requirements for fertilizer, as it gradually grows up, the demand for fertilizer is increasing. During the heading period of lettuce, the demand for nitrogen fertilizer accounts for more than 80% of the whole growth period.
2. Principles of fertilization
Lettuce needs more elements, so in order to avoid element deficiency, it is necessary to increase the application of organic fertilizer to provide it with growth needs, and to control nitrogen fertilizer to avoid excessive application of nitrogen fertilizer, affecting the absorption of other elements by the root system, as well as the application of potassium fertilizer. Fertilizing is mainly based on base fertilizer and appropriate amount of topdressing, and topdressing is mainly nitrogen fertilizer with reasonable combination of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. Combined with water management during fertilization, it can improve the utilization rate of fertilizer, accelerate its absorption by roots and promote growth.
3. Fertilization suggestion
Base fertilizer is generally applied to 1000-1500 kg of rotten farm manure per mu, and topdressing in the later stage should be carried out according to the yield per mu. For fields with a yield of more than 3500 kg per mu, 10-12 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 4-6 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 10-14 kg of potash fertilizer should be applied per mu; for fields with a yield of 2500-3500 kg per mu, 6-10 kg of nitrogen fertilizer, 3-4 kg of phosphate fertilizer and 8-10 kg of potash fertilizer should be applied per mu. According to this ratio, with the decrease of yield per mu, the application amount of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer was gradually reduced.
4. Points for attention
When fertilizing, it should be noted that lettuce has poor acid resistance, so less acidic fertilizer is used when applying fertilizer, and 150-200 kg quicklime per mu should be adjusted when the soil pH value is less than 6. All nitrogen fertilizer should be applied as topdressing, generally divided into three stages, potash fertilizer is generally used as base fertilizer, the rest is applied twice, and all phosphate fertilizer is used as base fertilizer.
The above is the introduction of how to fertilize lettuce. I hope it can help you. If you want to know more about it, please follow us.
