Mallotus is a creeping shrub belonging to Mallotus family and Mallotus genus. It is an excellent ground cover plant integrating medicinal, ornamental and health care. The whole herb can be used as medicine. It has the effect of clearing away heat and toxic materials, activating blood circulation and stopping bleeding. It is often used for high fever, lung carbuncle, pharynx swelling, toothache, hemorrhoids, snake bite, etc. So how should the ground be planted? Let's take a look.

1. Land selection and preparation

The requirements for soil are not strict. It can be planted on acidic and barren soil in hillside, riverside, field edge and front and back of houses, but it grows slowly, and its flowering amount and fruit number are relatively small, affecting its ornamental value and medicinal value. Therefore, it is advisable to choose loam planting with high terrain, deep soil layer, loose soil and rich organic matter. In early spring, soil preparation shall be started, soil blocks shall be scattered, raked fine and leveled, ridging shall be done, and drainage ditch shall be made.

2. Breeding methods

Artificial cultivation is generally selected to reproduce, can be transplanted in early spring after rain, survival rate is very high, and in summer high temperature or autumn and winter dry season transplant survival rate is low. Seeds can also be obtained from wild resources for reproduction, but in different growth environments, the seeds of wild resources will be affected by external conditions, and the growth situation will be different. Therefore, it is necessary to try to select varieties with faster growth, large flowering and large fruits, so as to avoid low planting benefits.

3. Cultivation management

The ground is cold and barren, and there is no need for too much management after transplanting, but the growth rate is slow. Pay attention to weeding during seedling stage or after transplanting, so as not to affect its growth by weeds. When it covers the ground, weeds are extremely difficult to invade, and weeding is needed. Because it is a wild plant itself, it has strong adaptability and resistance to pests and diseases. It has not seen pests and diseases in artificial cultivation, so there is no need for chemical control.

4. Fertilizer and water management

In addition to fertilizer consumption during soil preparation, 400-500 kg of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer and appropriate amount of trace fertilizer can be applied per mu during soil preparation. After planting for one month, according to the growth of plants, 100 kg of thin urine water or urea solution can be applied once per mu. Appropriate amount of phosphorus, potassium and boron fertilizer can be applied during flowering, budding and fruiting, which can increase flowering amount and seed setting rate. The soil has low requirements for moisture. When planting in the south, drainage measures should be taken in rainy season to avoid rotten roots, but proper watering should be done in drought to avoid low seed setting rate and fruit cracking.
