Volvariella volvacea is an important tropical and subtropical mushroom, and it is the third largest cultivated edible fungus in the world. However, the phenomenon of straw mushroom death occurs during cultivation, which seriously harms the yield and affects the income of growers, so what are the reasons for the death of straw mushroom? Let's get to know it.

1. The cultivation environment is sour.

Straw mushroom is different from other fungi, it likes the alkaline environment, when the culture material is slightly acidic, that is, the pH value is less than 6.5, it will be difficult to grow, and it is easy to be contaminated by miscellaneous bacteria leading to dead mushrooms. Therefore, in the deployment of culture materials, we must add an appropriate amount of lime, adjust the pH, make it alkaline, and spray the lime solution once after each picking.

2. Sudden changes in temperature

Straw mushroom is a constant temperature fruiting type edible fungus, its mycelium suitable growth temperature is between 30-39 degrees, below 15 degrees or higher than 42 degrees will stop growing, while the fruiting body growth temperature of 28-33 degrees, below 20 degrees or higher than 45 degrees will lead to its wilting and death. Therefore, we should pay attention to the change of temperature, low temperature should take measures such as double-layer film insulation, high temperature should pay attention to water spraying, shading and other measures to cool.

3. Humidity is not suitable.

Water is an important factor affecting the growth of volvariella volvacea. When the water is insufficient, the mycelium grows very slowly and the fruiting body will dry up and die; but when there is too much water, it will lead to poor ventilation of the mushroom bed and lead to the death or decay of the mushroom body. Therefore, in order to grasp the humidity, the water content of the general culture material is about 70%, the relative air humidity of mycelium growth is 80%, and the air humidity of fruiting body formation stage is 90%.

4. Poor ventilation

Straw mushroom is a high-temperature aerobic fungus, many mushroom farmers often in order to increase the temperature of the mushroom shed, will prolong the covering time, which will lead to excessive accumulation of carbon dioxide in the mushroom shed, resulting in straw mushroom suffocation. However, the ventilation rate should not be too large, which will not only lead to rapid water dissipation, but also disadvantageous to the growth and development of volvariella volvacea, so 3-4 days after sowing, ventilation is about 30 minutes at about 10:00 every day, and the ventilation time is gradually prolonged with the growth of hyphae.

The above is the introduction of the reasons for the death of straw mushroom, hope to help you, want to know more related knowledge, please pay attention to us.
