Ezhi No. 1 (Sesame)
Ezhi No. 1 was bred by strain selection method with 82-262 as female parent and Zhongzhi 8 as male parent in Xiangfan City Agricultural Science Institute of Hubei Province. The variety was finalized in 1991 and numbered 91-4116.
Characteristic Ezhi 1 1992-1993 our institute compared with the average yield of 83.77kg, compared with the control Yuzhi 2 increased by 49.54%, reached a very significant level, ranking first. From 1994 to 1997, he participated in the sesame regional trial in Hubei Province for 20 times in 4 years, and the average unit yield of 59.44kg was 10.7% higher than that of Zhongzhi 10, ranking first. Participated in the experiment and demonstration of sesame production in Hubei Province in 1995, the average yield per mu was 86.75kg, which was 22.1% higher than that of Yuzhi 6, ranking first. In 1996, the new sesame varieties in Hubei Province showed high yield demonstration, 11 counties and cities in the province, with a planting area of 21300 mu, Ezhi No. 1 yield of 85~115.8kg/ mu, and an average per unit yield of 103.27kg. In 1997, nearly 200000 mu of demonstration fields were planted in the hilly land of northern Hubei, and 400 mu of high-yielding demonstration fields were planted in Lijiazhai Village, Laohekou City, of which 10 households received 147~156kg/ mu, which increased by 26.66% compared with Yuzhi 9.
Ezhi No. 1 belongs to single culm type, three flowers, four edges, white flowers purplish, capsule dense, medium short, seed coat white, stalk stout, leaves hypertrophy, leaf color dark green. The plant height is 180~200cm, there are 150 capsules per plant, 65 grains per capsule, 1000-grain weight, and the whole growth period is 90 days. In the sesame regional test in Hubei Province from 1995 to 1997, the disease index of stem point blight of Ezhi 1 was 6.9 lower than that of Zhongzhi 10. Measured by the Oil testing Center of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Ezhi No. 1 contains 59.18% oil and 18.6 crude protein.
