When storing sweet potatoes, in order to prevent invading sweet potatoes such as black spot and soft rot, after entering the cellar, the pit temperature is generally raised to 34 ℃ ~ 37 ℃ and the relative humidity is about 85%, and lasts for about 4 days, so that the wounds caused by potato blocks during excavation can be healed as soon as possible to prevent infection, which is called high temperature healing in production. Although sweet potatoes and potatoes are potato crops, they are different. The growth of the two and the suitable temperature for potato storage were obviously different.

After that, the pit temperature is generally controlled at 10 ℃ ~ 15 ℃, and the relative humidity is 85% to 90%, which can make the sweet potato in a relatively stable dormant state. If the pit temperature is lower than 9 ℃, chilling injury will occur for too long, which weakens the storability of potato pieces and is prone to heart stiffness or decay. If the pit temperature is 3 ℃ ~ 6 ℃, it will show chilling injury and dry rot in 6 days. Of course, if the temperature is higher than 15 ℃, the respiration of potato will be intensified, a large amount of nutrients and water will be consumed to make the potato lose weight, and it is easy to cause the spread of germs, leading to potato rot or germination.

The optimum pit temperature of potato during storage is 2 ℃ ~ 4 ℃. When the temperature was higher than 5 ℃, the water consumption of tubers was higher than that of dry matter, and the epidermis shrank, especially after the dormant period, the young buds began to sprout in the eyes of tubers, and the tubers sprouted more than 12 ℃. Once sprouting, a toxin called solanine will be produced around the bud eye, which is harmful to human beings and animals, affecting its appearance and edible quality. Therefore, the sprouted potato pieces must be dug up around the bud eye before they can be eaten. When the potato pieces sprout and turn green seriously, they have to be thrown away. As for the humidity in the cellar, potatoes are similar to sweet potatoes, with an appropriate range of 85% to 90%. Insufficient humidity will also shrink, affecting the value of food and planting. Mold is easy to occur when the humidity is high, and even cause tuber rot.

Thus it can be seen that the temperature requirements of sweet potato and potato are quite different during storage, if they are put together, then accommodating the potato will harm the sweet potato, meet the sweet potato will destroy the potato, and even cause both losses.
