The pollination of rice at long panicle stage needs temperature and oxygen very much. During this period, cold wind blowing from the northeast is very easy to occur, which leads to poor pollination, empty grains and reduced yield.

The prevention and control technology of chilling injury.

One is to accelerate the pollination of rice. From late July to the first and middle of August, due to the meteorological reasons of atmospheric circulation, the temperature generally dropped to about 17, so that the rice flowers did not bloom, affecting the pollination of rice and the emergence of empty grains. For this kind of obstructive chilling injury, the scientific management of rice fields should be strengthened to speed up the pollination period of rice, avoid the attack of cold wind, and ensure the yield increase of rice.

The second is artificial rope pollination. Can take two people to pull a rope (soft hemp, rope, rope diameter 7-9 mm), parallel and pull, so that pollen grains fly, smooth pollination.

The third is deep water protection and pollination. Listen carefully to the weather forecast, when the cold wind is about to blow, quickly pour 17-20 cm of deep water into the rice fields to improve the ability of rice to resist the cold wind, so that rice pollination will not be affected.

Fourth, rational application of panicle fertilizer. While applying nitrogen fertilizer, potassium dihydrogen phosphate and some acidic solutions should be sprayed to promote the full ripening of rice grains.

The fifth is to take big grass and dry the fields. The ears of large grasses, especially barnyardgrass, should be removed with sickle samarium to prevent the grass from shading so as to hinder the growth of rice. After hiding from the cold wind, dry the field to make the foundation of rice firm and prevent rice from lodging.
