Prevention and treatment of heat stroke in pigs in summer

With the global warming, the temperature in summer is increasing year by year, and pigs with poor heat dissipation are more likely to develop heat stroke. Farmers should take measures to prevent and treat pig heatstroke.

Clinical symptoms: sudden onset, sharp rise in body temperature, shortness of breath, high depression of spirit, weakness of limbs, ataxia, sweating all over the body. When the treatment is not timely or unreasonable, lying on the ground can not afford, have spasms or coma and die.

Prevention: ① piggery should be well ventilated and should be shaded by sheds to prevent direct sunlight. ② does a good job in environmental hygiene inside and outside the pig house, often sprinkling the ground with cold water. The rearing density of pigs in ③ house should not be too high. ④ ensures that there is adequate drinking water, especially at noon and evening every day, with the right amount of salt added to the drinking water to replenish the salt lost by sweating.

Treatment: ① immediately transferred the diseased pigs to a ventilated and cool place, gave them an enema with cold water, and gave them oral administration of a large amount of 2% cold saline or other coolants. ② intravenous bloodletting 50ml 250ml, then with 5% glucose 500ml normal saline, 20% sodium caffeine solution 5ml, intravenous injection, once a day for 3 days. ③ compound sodium chloride solution 300ml, 20% sodium caffeine solution 3ml, intravenous injection, once a day for 3 days.
