Last Updated: 2024/11/10, Summer temperature is higher, leftover food overnight or feed damp, heat is very easy to rot and sour, after being eaten by chickens will stimulate the crop wall, causing inflammation. If the leftover food produces too much acid in the process of spoilage, the acid will enter the bloodstream through the crop wall and intestinal wall of the chicken, leading to chicken acidosis. After the occurrence of acidosis, the general crown of the chicken is purple, standing apart from the group, the wings are drooping, the feathers are fluffy, the intake is greatly reduced, and even refuse to eat. If you press the crop with your hand, some are empty, some are full of liquid, and if you mention a chicken, a foamy sour liquid will flow out of its mouth, and the illness is serious.

Precaution

1, each time the preparation or purchase of feed should not be too much, the storage of feed should be kept dry, ventilated, cool, to avoid feed mildew. 2. Farmers who are accustomed to feeding chickens with wet materials had better be fed with dry powder instead, and clear water can be placed beside the lees to allow the chickens to drink freely. 3. Feeding chickens without feverish or fermented feed should be based on the principle of feeding less frequently and leaving no leftovers overnight. Tableware should be scrubbed frequently and kept clean.

Treatment.

Once acidosis occurs, chickens should immediately stop feeding feverish and deteriorated feed, and then treat them in time according to the degree of poisoning. For chickens with mild acidosis, prepare 2% baking soda and allow them to drink freely; chickens with severe acidosis are fed with baking soda twice a day, 5 grams each time; chickens with severe acidosis should undergo minor surgery, cut the crop to remove the contents, rinse 2% baking soda with 2% baking soda for 3 times, and feed a small amount of glucose powder for 12 hours after suture.
