This old feeding method has the advantages of long feeding time, slow growth and development and low breeding efficiency. If the male goose is castrated and then fattened, not only the goose is docile and easy to manage, but also grows fast, has a large size and has high economic benefits. Except for a small number of male geese raised by the rural people according to the traditional feeding method, most of them are fattened and sold as meat geese. This old feeding method has the advantages of long feeding time, slow growth and development and low breeding efficiency. If the male goose is castrated and then fattened, not only the goose is docile and easy to manage, but also grows fast, has a large size and has high economic benefits. In order to further improve the efficiency of breeding, the castration methods of male geese are introduced as follows:

1. Castration season. Generally from July to August, the male goose is healthy and disease-free, the age of the goose is about 5 months, and the body weight is 3.5-4kg. Castration tools include: scalpel, dilatation bow (can be made with bamboo skin), testosterone spoon (available in drugstores) and testicular cuff (self-made with brush stick). And have some disinfectant cotton wool and 75% alcohol. Disinfect tools before use.

two。 Castration methods and procedures. Generally take the right side lie Baoding. When the goose wings are combined, the performer puts his right foot on the tip of the wing, presses the base of the wing with one hand, and fixes the neck with the other. The incision was selected on the left side of the goose between the first and second ribs from the back to the front, 2 cm away from the midline of the back, and disinfected after depilation. During the operation, the operator's left index finger and middle finger push the goose skin back, and the right hand holds a knife parallel to the ribs for incision. The incision is about 2cm long and 1cm deep until the peritoneum is seen. Stretch the incision in a prismatic shape with an expanded arch, carefully open the peritoneum with the hook on the scalpel (to prevent scratching the intestines), and then use an epididymal spoon to push the rectum forward and down and fully expose the testicles. Hold the testicular apparatus in the right hand to cover the base of the testicles, cooperate with both hands, gently rotate and twist to remove the testicles. And according to the same method, the other testes are removed (the other testes can be found according to the principle of basic alignment of the testicles on both sides). Finally, the expansion arch was removed, the muscle was restored, and the knife edge could be healed without suture.

3. Points for attention. When ① is castrated in hot weather, male geese should be allowed to drink enough clean water before operation.

If renal artery hemorrhage occurs during ② operation, tweezers can be used to remove disinfected cotton balls to stop the bleeding and avoid lung injury.

③ was not allowed to enter the water for 3 days after castration and was provided with adequate feed and clean drinking water. For individual non-eaters, soaked formula feed can be used for manual feeding.

④ for individual emphysema after castration, acupuncture can be used to slowly deflate at the emphysema site.

⑤ pays attention to avoid shock and violent driving, and should keep quiet as far as possible.

The method of castration and fattening of male geese is simple and has high practical value.
