Zhonghuang 13 (Guoshengdou 2001009) was bred by Wang Lianzheng, a famous soybean breeder and researcher of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and was recommended as the main soybean variety by the Ministry of Agriculture for three consecutive years from 2005 to 2007. It was bred by pedigree method with Yudou 8 as female parent and Zhongzuo 90052-76 as male parent. The average yield of soybean planted in China was 120 kg per mu, while that of "Zhonghuang 13" was 200 kg per mu, which was significantly higher than that of the control varieties. Among them, "Zhonghuang 13" planted by Zhang Zhi, a farmer in Jieshou City, Anhui Province, has a yield of 307kg per mu and has a high yield record of 312.4 kg per mu in the improved seed farm of Xiangyuan County, Shanxi Province.

Zhonghuang 13 was approved by the Variety approval Committee of Anhui Province and Tianjin in March 2001 and the national examination and approval in May of the same year.

Zhonghuang 13 is a new soybean variety with high yield, high protein and wide adaptability. it has the characteristics of lodging resistance, good disease resistance and great potential for yield increase. Among the 12 new soybean varieties approved by the National crop Variety approval Committee in 2001, "Zhonghuang 13" ranked first in terms of yield increase. Its soybean protein content reaches 42.84%, is moderately resistant to cyst nematode disease, and has a low incidence of mosaic virus disease, which is suitable for high-yield cultivation.

Recently, researcher Wang Lianzheng told reporters that "Zhonghuang 13" can be sown in spring in northern Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin, Liaoning, Sichuan, and Shanxi, and in summer in Guanzhong, Shaanxi, Shandong, and central and southern Huang-Huai Hai. Although it has reached 10.87 million mu, it still has the potential to popularize, and the planting area can be expanded in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan and Hebei. In particular, he pointed out that the cultivation of "Zhonghuang 13" is very simple and easy for farmers to accept.
