Pigeonpea (soybean)
Pigeonpea, also known as millennium pea, native to tropical Africa and Asia, is a perennial shrub. In the north of China, except for Heilongjiang Province, one-year-old or winter protective measures (no less than-5 ℃) can be taken for perennial cultivation. This variety has the advantages of barren tolerance, strong adaptability and fast growth. It can be planted in sandy soil, loam and gravel soil. The suitable soil pH is 5-7.5 and the salt tolerance is good. Repeated podding can reach 3-5 batches a year.
Pigeonpea plant height of about 2.2 meters, luxuriant branches and leaves, exuberant growth. From the end of July to the beginning of August, the grain dries and ripens once in 23-25 days. The flower and pod period is as long as 3-4 months, the crown is flowering and colorful, so it is an ideal greening and beautification plant. The protein content of the bean is 22-28%, the protein content of stems and leaves is 19%, the content of vitamin An and C is 6 times and 3 times that of ordinary soybeans, and contains 8 kinds of amino acids necessary for the human body. Good palatability, its green grains, tender pods can be used as off-season vegetables, seeds can be soaked in bean sprouts, do tofu, grain and feed; fresh and tender stems and leaves, good palatability, is the first-class forage for all kinds of livestock and poultry. The first batch of pods can be harvested after sowing for 4-5 months, and the annual harvest varies from 3 to 5 times with the change of latitude, and the yield per mu is more than 160kg-300kg. The bean is coarse, disease-resistant, easy to manage water and fertilizer, and has strong nitrogen fixation ability. The base fertilizer is mainly phosphorus and organic fertilizer, topdressing phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and topdressing after each harvest. If it is used as green fodder for production purpose, the density can be increased to 3000 plants, mainly applying nitrogen fertilizer and yielding 6000kg-8000kg per mu of stems and leaves. There are few diseases and insect pests, mainly aphids, mites, bean worms, leaf curlers and so on. The bean was sown before and after April, and the effect of raising seedlings with a nutrition bowl was the best. when sowing, the seedling bed could be sprinkled with poison bran to kill insects. The number of seedlings per mu varies from 300 to 3500 according to latitude and cultivation use. Topping at the early flowering stage and pruning after the first pod harvest. A batch of new shoots, blossoms and pods grew after 20 days. If it is used as forage grass, it can be harvested at the height of 100cm and harvested once a month. When the temperature drops below 0 ℃, it can also be harvested with 30-50cm stubble, covered with hay or plastic film to keep warm, no less than-5 ℃ in winter, and can germinate and grow in the spring of the following year, so there is no need to use seeds to raise seedlings.
